Production #'s of Coupes

Hey all, I just registered on the forum today, and should be receiving my Laser Red Coupe anytime now in January.
Just curious about the production numbers of the coupes for 2003, my dealer estimated that about 20,000 coupes will be made and of the 20k only about 10-12% will be the 6 Speed manuals. He said that the manual coupes will have a resale value of about $5-6k over MSRP. He ALSO told me that one of his customers was offered $5k over what he paid for his coupe after he had it for only 2 weeks.

Now I know this guy was trying to sell a car, so who knows how accurate all these figures are, but we did buy our QX4 from him and hes a great guy. But anyhow what I really was interested in was the production #'s and resale values.

Thanks!

Well, he's lying to you in a lot of regards. Production figures for the 2003 coupe is 12,000. IT is unkown how many 6mts, but it will probably be closer to 25-30 percent. The factor that is slowing down the amount of 6mt and performance tire and wheel cars is that there are only a certain amount of the 18 inch wheels. This topic has been repeatedly discussed on Fresh Alloy. i really don't think the resale will be over MSRP simply because these cars aren't being sold over MSRP. I would, however, estimate that the resale value will be considerably better than the rest of the Infiniti line, which has been notoriously bad.

I don't think he was straight out lying about anything, where did you get your figures from though? Also have you any idea what the coupe and sedan production #'s are? Thanks!

I just said what the coupes were, I don't know the sedans. My numbers were from this being discussed on Fresh Alloy and confirmation from a sales manager who is well respected on that board (DFW). So, you're right. He wasn't straight up lying, just misinformed or guessing.

Re: Production #'s of Coupes

I was told that the amount of 6MT's are 19% and 81% are autos. (Suburban infiniti in michigan)
So therefore the 6MT is more of a "collectors" item than the automatic

by the way, if they told you of a range, that means they are not sure, car companies always use exact figures before any production starts, at least thats how the japs do it :-D
for efficiency and accounting reasons of course

Re: Production #'s of Coupes

Exactly, all Japanese companies do this. We will have production of this ...

I expect that the percentage of 6mts however, could be a range. The only limiting factor here is the amount of 18 inch wheels, and those are shared with the performance tire and wheel in the auto. So, maybe this would depend on the order.

Rambo....I also was at Suburban Infinti in Michigan, and the salesman Mark there told me those figures which was just over 1 week ago. Like I said above he told me about 20,000 coupes would be made and 10-12% would be 6MT. Thats funny how they told us different, who was your salesman and when did you go? Thanks!

Re: Production #'s of Coupes

haha thats funny, i talked to mark about a month ago, but my salesman is Ken Corley, he's cool, i think he's the one that told me about the 19% figure, infact i am heading there tomorrow morning because they show a 6MT in their inventory on infiniti.com.....

that dealership seems like a good one so far.....i've had bad experiences at other infiniti dealerships (in Cali).
ill ask them again tomorrow about the % i guess...

Re: Production #'s of Coupes

i cant agree with stewa more on any f his comments....
the resale will never be above msrp, but will be alot better then the rest... the figures for producton seem about right. Infiniti posted their sales today for this month:

G35 Sport Coupe 2,122
G35 Sport Sedan 2,815

actually, i think they will be producing a few more coupes....
these sales have been pretty consistent.
