Question How many miles/km did your OEM tires last?

How many miles or km did your OEM 19" RE050A tires last?
I know that the tire wear depends on how one drives the car but....I have been told by a tire shop that I have only about 20% left and I have only driven 16,000miles (or 26,000km) on them. I also don't drive so aggressively, just normal (no burnouts nor aggressive launching etc).
Looking up spec on our RE050A, it has 140-A-A.
Do you guys think its normal?? 'cause, I did not think that I will be replacing these high performance tires every 14 months when I bought this car ...

yikes, okay that explains how I just saw an '04 at the dealer with only 13k miles and spent rear tires... owned by an older gent, and I doubt he was doing burnouts!

I think it's pretty rare to get more than about 20,000 miles from the 19" RE050As, and aggressive drivers often get considerably less. I've got a little over 14K miles on mine and I'm expecting to have to replace them by the time summer rolls around. I think I'm going to give the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s a try. Not only were they rated significantly higher than the Bridgestones in a recent Car and Driver comparo but they have a much higher treadwear rating (220 vs. 140) so they should last quite a bit longer. What's more, they weigh a couple of pounds a piece less than the RE050As which I anticipate will noticeably improve the G's already excellent handling. As far as I can tell, the only drawback of the Michelins over the Bridgestones is that they cost $200 more a set -- $1248 vs. $1044 based on Tire Rack's current prices.

It's pointless to cross-compare treadwear ratings between brands. You can only compare tires within the same brand. The PS2s are soft compound tires so don't get your hopes up - they're going to wear as fast as anything. A good, lower-cost alternative are the Toyo T1Rs.

15-20k miles is most commonly the life of the stock tires. Anything more or less depends on your commute and driving style.

12k miles out of my tires and they are bald. I do drive me car a bit hard but I am not a nut. I am disappointed that they did not last longer, but I guess it was expected.

Thanks for the input guys, I understood that my tire wear is not abnormal at 16K for these Re050A's, jsut hoped that they go longer... After Re050A, I am thinking of trying Falken FK-451, less costly and decent reviews.

24,000 miles so far. still has decent tread. I say about 20%. I flipped the front side to side though at 15k. rears have a little more tread than the front. I say i'm an aggressive driver from time to time. Auto x a couple times. 1/4 mile a couple times.

15 k with about 10% left in the rear and 20% in the front. I could have gone about 2-5K more eh...
