g35 sedan auto loaner

just had to put in my 6mt laser red coupe for service on the keyed areas of my car and i have to say, this AUTO g35 sedan is nothing to what i expected it to be. The power feels so much weaker, could be that its just auto, but above all its missing the beautiful exhaust note of the coupe. anyone else feel the same way?

No.

How many miles were on it? They don't really come alive fully until after they're broken in and driven "spiritedly" for a bit.

Re: g35 sedan auto loaner

cant remember exactly, but there was 3000+ miles on the car. another werid thing i found was with the tiptronic thing. even while being stopped i could shift all the way to 5th gear and start from there.. seemed a bit weird

Re: g35 sedan auto loaner

It's not weird once you understand it. The sedan's manual mode is different than the coupe's.

It's not a gear selector. It's a top-gear selector. Think of it as picking between "D5" and "D1" -- the car can still shift between first and the gear you pick, the dash does not indicate the current gear.

This is why it always goes to 4 when you first slide it over... it's a safe gear to go to, it does give you an immediate downshift if you're on the highway, and it doesn't force an immediate upshift in lower gears. The act of just sliding it over without using it to change gears is kind of like "overdrive off."

From a stop, it'll start in 1st and move up through the gears and stop at the currently selected top gear. The shifting is not any more aggressive than just leaving it in "D," however.

Re: g35 sedan auto loaner

G35 sedan in auto form will definitely feel slower than a g35c mt. First time I drove the 6spd even in the sedan it felt so much more powerful. Then came the coupe in 6spd. However, after awhile, there isnt THAT much of a difference. You'll notice it, but you cant really say that the g35 sedan auto is a slouch or anything. As for exhaust tone - g35c does have a bit meaner sounding one, but the sedan has a nice sound to it too, just not as mean.

By the way - those service loan cars are really abused. The ones at our dealership are used many times for short errands and without proper warm up times or anything of that nature.

Re: g35 sedan auto loaner

just don't bring any dogs into your loaner! A customer brought her dog with her in the loaner, covering the entire backseat in dog fur. Another customer must have the most rank breath ever from eating some smelly food because the loaner smelled like someone was eating some disgusting food in it before.

And then there are the customers who smoke in the car, despite the numerous "no smoking labels" Sheesh.

The dealership should fine those that abuse the loaners with dirt and smoke. It's not fair to those that want a clean loaner.
