Hello guys and gals.

Well, last night I went to a dealership and bought a 2004 Twilight Blue G35 Coupe 6M/T. It came with Premium, Aero, Trunk Mat and Navi. I pretty much paid MSRP for it, but I got free tint thrown into the package.

Let my just say this car is awesome. I have so much fun driving it. The interior is very well built and not at all plasticky or cheesy as some people say. And the color is abosolutely gorgeous. All my firends think its black, even in the daytime. Only have about 50 miles on it so far. The is my first manual tranny car and find it pretty easy to drive. I still drive my old 1990 Honda Accord to work though.

I have a couple questions though. As I drove the car home from the dealership I got out and smelled something funny coming from the engine. It kind of smelled like something was burning. I'm not sure it was the clutch, but I drove it really slow all the way home and let off the clutch slowly at each shift. I didnt rev past 3500 rpm at all, still havent so far. My dad says that its just the engine breaking in.

Is this true?

I look forward to all your guys' responses. Thanks.

- Daniel

Re: Finally Got My Coupe Last Night
Dan- congrats! Excellent choice of car, options, and even color. I REALLY like that Twilight Blue, but I suppose with Black Obs. it looks like the TB color half the time, right?
We just got an FX a couple of days ago, and I noticed the exact same smell-- sort of a burning rubber/brakes smell? It has gone away completely after about 20 miles, and the dealership said it was perfectly normal. My G did it as well, so... either we've got a string of bad luck, or all is well.
All the best,
G

Dont worry, that smell will go away with time. I have no clue what it is, but everytime there is a brand new sold car, it will make that smell. EVERYTIME. I'm always afraid that the buyer will think that the car was abused or driven really hard prior to delivery, but thats just the way it is.

Btw, congrats on your color choice. I personally am a fan of the new midnight blue color for the 04 coupes. Very sexy.
