tire question
i was wondering i 225/35/19's will fit on the oem 19's for a 05 coupe 5AT
i keep getting different answers on this.
some say that i can't because it will effect the gauge as in MPH it will be off
some say that it will affect my suspension and there is other stuff i heard. i was wondering who can give me a def. answer on this question just was curious because a freind of mine is selling all four new tires that are 225/35/19 for 200 bucks. because he had it for aftermarket wheels and he never used the wheels so he just sold the wheels and kept the tires. can i use it. i was wondering because my back tires are so freaking bad.. the treads are like bald.. lol^^

You don't want to use these tires on the rear. For one, the overall diameter is much smaller than the factory 245/40's (25.2" vs. 26.9" OEM). For another, this tire is actually smaller than the OEM front tire, which would effectively give you a "reverse stagger" setup. It would look really bad, and I would imagine it would do ugly things to the handling. The tires should fit the front wheel OK, but even then you're going to be about an inch smaller in overall diameter (26.1" OEM). Tires are too important . . . don't cheap out!

For you guys/gals looking to save some money on tires, you might want to consider dropping to 18" wheels. Besides the many aftermarket options, I'm sure you can find some used OEM wheels somewhere. (I might even sell my factory 18's when I install my 19's next week.) Not only will you decrease the unsprung weight, you should also improve the ride marginally while helping to protect the wheel from pothole damage. The only real downside is they just don't look as good.
