Infiniti doesnt do too well in Consumer reports

What do you guys think about that?

It seems Japanese manufacturers dominate these ratings but Nissan\Infiniti are not among them? Especially in the reliability ratings!!

Lexus dominates once again, Honda among 2nd, Toyota 3rd, and Mitsubishi?! My previous car was an Evo but I had no love for the rest of the Mitsu family.

Ok so we don't see any domestic nor european makers in these lists last year the lone survivor ford focus in consumer reports best picks has been replaced by the new civic..

I'm just a little dissapointed about Infinti and Nissan's reviews...

I think most of these reviews are biased. It is hard to tell how they come up with the test results. For instance, have any of you (Infiniti owner) ever receive from Consumer Report to do a survey on your satisfaction/number of issues with your car? If the stats come from dealers, would you not think the dealers would fudge to make the brand rate better, hence better sales?

Case in point, pay attention to MT and Car & Driver, not matter how good a Mercedes is, the rating is always behind BMW. It is because MB policy is not to grease magazines' palm.

If you all know how the test is conduct, I am all ears.

Yeah, These guys are crazy biased... But then again its really hard not to be when you're doing this kind of stuff...

The company I rep was rated #1 for kitchen cabinets last summer by consumer reports (Omega Cabinetry)... People would come in with the report and say "This is the best, this is what I want"... Some people would sacrofice their children if the stupid book told them to do it.

I believe CR gets its stats from a survey given to their current subscribers. So in that regard, it is biased in that it's a small percentage polled.

I think this is a repost - but either way you need to look at how the numbers break down for Infiniti. Their entire line is dragged down by the QX, which was the second least reliable car in the country last year. The rest of the line is way above average in terms of reliabilty, with the G sitting just below the top 5, and the M in the top 5. The QX is the only Infiniti vehicle produced at the new Mississippi plant, which also produces the highly un-reliable Armada and Titan.

When that plant gets over its teething problems and the QX stops being such a peice of crap Infiniti will be back in the top 5.

Unfortunately for a brand that is trying to break into the big leagues and get some repeat customers this sort of press is bad news. It was a big mistake to produce the QX in the new plant.

As always, it's usually a case of politics. It depends upon who pays whom in one form or another.

My first Nissan vehicle was way back in '72 it was
called a Datsun 510 and I added BRE goodies (mods)
I have had Nissan car all this time and don't have
anything but praise for the company. No one from
Consumers report has ever asked me what I thought.
So.......who gives a rats a**!!

It was probably due to the QX. The build quality sucks on that thing. Wasnt infiniti in the top 5 last year?

infiniti was on the top of the JD power 2005 long term vehicle dependabulity survey, i think ahead of honda even. its a research of 3 year old cars and problems per 100 vehicles. you can easily find articles about that survey via google.

QX56 was voted as the least reliable car of 2005 model year recently by MSN auto i believe beating out the likes of Kia and Daewood. Theres some serious issues with the Ohio plant as it seems a lot of cars from that plant has terrible reliability issues. luckily G35 are made in Japan.

Consumer Reports does rank the M35/M45 pretty high (and they did rank previous Infiniti's like the QX4 pretty high as well). I believe the QX56 brings the entire brand down however.

If I need help selecting a toaster or washing machine, I may glance at Consummer Reports. For cars their methodology is flawed. They only sample their own readers, and not the general public. Also, how many of their readers own G35 coupes. I wouldn't think very many. Their statistics may be a lot better for cars like Camrys, Corollas, Chevys, etc, since I would expect that most of their readers own those cars.
