I agree, don't believe everything you read. But.... I do believe some things like our manual. Drive slow b/c you do want the engine oil and even the tranny to warm up. The manual simply states it's best to do so driving slowly.
Note: This is coming from someone who, for the last ten years, let his cars warm up 5, 10 & sometimes 15 minutes. (Missouri winters)
Now, I let her run 30 sec max & roll...

drop to 1k rpm takes about 10-15 mins... imagine how much time you are wasting your life just by warming up your car?

if it takes 15min to drop your idle, something is very wrong.

I can understand that you want to do this for "peace of mind," but I think numerous people have provided compelling evidence and support that there is a diminishing return to warming up your beyond a certain point. Now if people were just making unsupported claims I'd agree to not "believe everything you read." In regards to your question about driving slowly vs warming up your car, I don't think anyone has provided evidence suggesting that the rationale's the same for doing one vs the other. I'm not trying to say that it's not good to warm up your car at all, but given what I've read here, I think by "erroring on the safe side" you actually have a greater chance of screwing up your car. Just my two pennies peace!

It rarely gets below freezing where I live. I turn the key, pop it into 1M and I'm off. I won't hammer it until the temperature reaches optimum - that takes about 2 minutes while driving under 3k RPM. At 30 MPH, it's basically idling anyway - no need to stand still.

People with auto should put the e brake on BEFORE they put it in park on hills. That way, teh car doesnt "fall" into PARK, then when you wanna go, just hold down the brakes, release the e brake and out it into gear or put in gear then release e brake and be out...usually works

I know this one is a big no-no. It causes unspent fuel to be left in the cylinder that eventually seeps down into your oil. Don't do it!!!
