Re: Just got my car and have some questions

Read the manual. Basically, it's under 4K RPMs for 1200 miles, and generally babying the car during that time. The engines are totally unbroken in when new, and get noticeably stronger and more fuel-efficient during breakin. I'd strongly recommend following the manual to the letter, then change oil after that.

Some people will say it doesn't need breaking in, but everything I have seen seems to contradict that. You will notice your engine, tranny, and other parts breaking in during the first 1200 miles, I highly recommend you go by the manual and keep it under 4k RPMs and baby it during that time. Small price to pay for better long-term reliability and stronger post-break-in performance.

make sure you don't keep the same rpm constantly. For example when you are cruising, make sure you don't constantly stay at say 3k rpm. Keep the rpm fluctuated.
