Apparently your Mom farted and plagued us with you...another lawyer. Thank your mom for me...

FOR THE RECORD, it wouldn't have been a fart, she would have sharted if that's what you're implying. And if you're talking about my mom's bowels, I think you've got bigger issues than your girlfriend's burning clutch. (Sounds mysteriously like an STD, get that checked.)

Now if you're looking for an EXCUSE to swap the clutch out, then just say so!

And I don't consider myself a lawyer, I consider myself a civil liberty denial specialist. I'm a prosecutor, not a paper pushing ambulance chaser!

Wasn't looking for an excuse, Counsel, was just looking for advice on how to deal with clutch burn. (I'm not a mechanic, nor have I ever burned a clutch...so I have no technical experience on this matter) and then I get a bunch of your minutiae.
You're free to chime in with your Rhetoric, but be aware that I will rebutt. Consider yourself anything you want, i really don't care. Seems like you write 3 paragraphs just to tell me to STFU. That counsel, makes you a paper pushing lawyer (and your profile)

Just drive it. It's a wear item anyway, it's not expected to last the life of the car (although many do). If it starts to slip, replace it.

Chances are she took some life out of it, but probably not too much. I remember the first time I smelled the clutch in this car (the first car I have ever smelled a clutch burning btw, and I have been racing and driving sticks for at least 15 years) I was sure it was done, but alas it still works. It still chatters, and it still engages roughly. no different from before.

Thanks Man! - I see you tow your 1000 to the track. I do too. Made the clutch last on my old 750 for 6 years..but I never did racing starts.

Thanks to most of you for your helpful replies...useless lawyer comments excluded.

We were coming home from a friends wedding, and the plan was that she drive since I would be the one drinking. On the way home she was in 2second gear and all of a sudden she laid into the gas waaay to hard. (I assume she was still feathering the clutch or just dropped it too quickly and stomped on the gas). Next thing I know I smell burned clutch for the next 15 minutes . Smell finally dissipated after that. Rest of ride home no more issues. Other than I felt like giving someone a bitch slapping.

I'm trying to assess damage here: Car has 8500 miles. Before this, I was able to go from stop-to-roll in 1st just clutching, no gas but VERY,VERY carefully...or a stall. Now - I am able to roll into 1st just clutching VERY carefully and I can do it in 2nd too VERY,VERY carefully (though I have never tested this in 2nd prior to this incident). There is no slipping of the clutch in normal conditions. but I thought the stop-to-roll in 1st AND 2nd was a bit peculiar. Doing it in 1st seems a bit easier to do now as well.

Obviously this 15 minutes of smelling my own personal hell was not good for the clutch and I know LONG TERM (>100K miles) this will lead to sooner clutch slippage than w/o this one incident due to the glazing of the metal plates.

All you 6MT people - Am I being paranoid regarding the clutch pull, or is this 'clutching w/o gas' typical for our cars at the 8500 mile point and should I not worry about this horrible 15 minute raping of my car. Please chime in - are any of you able to go from stop-to-roll just clutching, no gas in 1st AND 2nd?
Or should I replace my clutch plates?

Needless to say that was the last time she will be driving my 6MT.
replace girlfrtiend and clutch ( in that order ) jajajajaja

BTW - you gonna share your knowledge and tell me how to make a clutch live forever???
Oh hell that's easy....never rest your foot on the
clutch pedal....easy in and gently out just like your
girlfriend....that way they'll both last!

well........ i noe this doesnt apply to OEM clutch, but drift pros kick the clutch and gas to rev up the engine.... obviously theirs are racing clutches and they really noe what they are doing but I don't think the OEM will start having problems that fast..
