Tech experts: How accurate are tailpipe A/F probes? Question on A/F plot attached.
I've heard that these are not terribly accurate if the probe is just in the tailpipe.
When I dyno'd my car, my A/F ratio from 3500-5000 was as high as 16.5:1!
That seemed really high to me.
It ran at 13.8:1 from 2500-3500, then at 16:1 from 3500-5000 and then 15:1 all the way to redline.
It seems odd that the ratio bounced around as much as it did with that huge spike in the middle.
Anyone have any comments on this?
