windshield film??
windshield film??
i just got a passport 8500 and in the manual it mentions that some cars have a "soft anit-lacerative coating on the inside surface." it goes on to say that the suction cups used to mount the detector will permanently mar this coating.
i was wondering if any one can tell me if our g's have this coating!??!?!! don't want to PERMANENTLY mar the g!!!!
thanks!

Re: windshield film??
You'll be alright. I have an Escort Passport 8500 as well and no problems. Just make sure to mount the radar detector below the tint strip at the top of the windshield, otherwise the tint strip will strongly reduce the radar's sensitivity.
Re: windshield film??
thx mrellusive! i thought i would mount mine a lot lower than the tint. actually was thinking of 8-10" up in center of windshield. i wondered if i should instead mount it 6" or so below the rearview mirror. from your reference to the tint, that sounds like where you mounted yours. is that just your personal preference or have you had better results having it higher rather than lower? thx again for your input.
