Is the G35C really that exclusive!!!
Re: Is the G35C really that exclusive!!!
Hi:
Rarity of a car is nice, but popularity is better. When a car develops a significant following, it's value increases, more OEM parts are developed for it and the car gets the respect it deserves. Everyone knows BMW and almost everyone automatically thinks "the driver is rich and that the car is incomparable." They do this without ever looking to see what grade of BMW it really is and without considering the excessive cost of BMW ownership. Most people that I know are not sure what an Infiniti is let alone what grade of car it is equivalent to. You can see it in their eyes as they momentarily ponder: 'Is Infiniti another one of those new manufactures like Hyundai or Kia?' And this is in Southern Calif. where cars are king! Let's hope that Infiniti (now Renault) can raise public awareness and heighten the perception of their quality product line. IMHO, Infiniti is behind the curve on this one.

Renault owns only 33% i thought... anyway i totally agree with sybertel.
Lexus used to be the same way as Infiniti is now. They were unknown until they started selling their cars like hotcakes here in the States, now they are up there with BMW and Benz interms of class.

I really think Infiniti only has the FX and the G for their sales. I think all their other cars suck. As far as class and status, I think, unfortunately, BMW and Mercedes destroy Infiniti in that department.

The M45 is great if you're in the market for a full-size car. It crushes the supposed "muscle" cars sold domestically (like the Mercury Marauder) and is better looking and appointed too. It's also a little faster than an AT G35 Sedan, if I'm not mistaken.
The Q45 is good, but too expensive. The I35 and QX4 are nice Nissans.

I think the only reason you're seeing more BMWs is because the Gs have only been out a year. Give it another few years and they'll probbaly be an even number of Beemers and Gs on the road.

Uh, think again...
There's about 2 GAZILLION BMW's on the road, partly because they're extremely popular, and partly because they've been around for, like, EVER.
Meanwhile, along comes the G35, and you figure in a few years Infiniti / Nissan is gonna be able to pump out enough of 'em to equal all the BMW's on the road? What, you figure Nissan is gonna build 5 MILLION units a year for the US of A alone?
Let's get this straight right now...
The G35 will NEVER be as common a sight on US roads as a BMW. Even if the body style of the G35 doesn't change for 20 years, and Infiniti / Nissan is able to sell 1 million units a year (I do hope you realize that will not happen), after those 20 years they'd be lucky to have as many on the roads as BMW has now - and BMW will CONTINUE to out-sell Infiniti 10:1 during those 20 years.
Oh yes, eventually the G35 Coupe will be a more common sight on our roadways, but as common as seeing a BMW? Never gonna happen, mate. Never.
