Clicking Noise!!!!ARGG!

First, let me say I’ve done a search on this topic but everything that I read is rear diff. related and I don’t think mine has anything to do with that.

Specs on my car: 06 6MT coupe (includes sport package), premium package, mud guards, and only 2000 miles on the odometer.

So last Wednesday I got splash/mud guards from Chad@infinitispecialist and because of the rain I installed them on Saturday. The installation was cake but I did have to take off the two rear wheels to install the rear flaps. After the installation I decided to pamper her with a wash and wax of Klasse all-in-one and sealant (it took 4 hours). The car looked great and that night I drove to the bars with a bunch of friends. We were having a good time “flossing” and cruising the ride . I then pulled into a parking structure and my friend noticed a constant clicking noise. It’s not loud but very noticeable and seems to correlate with the rotation of the wheels. It sounds like it is coming from the rear passenger side, right by the tire. The first thing I did was check if there was a rock stuck between the threads but turned up with nothing. I then checked if anything was rubbing on the tires or if I re-installed the wheels incorrectly but that was also a negative. I could take my car to the dealership and have them deal with it but wanted to see if anyone knew what the problem is and more importantly how to fix it (if it is a simple one).

My '05 is at the dealer today and will remain there over night until tomorrow for this clicking issue. The first time I brought it in they were'nt able to fix it because they didn't have the right lube grease. Today @ around 4:40 my service rep called me to tell me that the car is going to have to stay overnight while they overnight some parts for the trans-axle. I don't know what parts they are waiting on but my guess is that they are just gonna lube everything up and close it back up. I'll let you know more tomorrow after I pick up my car.

God, I am so embarass right now

Figured out the problem guys. God it's stupid...I feel like a chick right now. I didn't tighted the F(*(king lug nuts. Jesus! There were only 3 nuts loosely holding the wheels onto the rotor! What the hell is wrong with me? I always tighten the lugs after I drop the car from the jack in a star pattern, but I guess I was tried from the four hour waxing session and got really careless. God, I know better than that! I could of died and killed some of my friends for being such a moron. I am so glad I didn't get hurt and nothing happened to the car.

Malukalu,
My car is a DG as well. I don't have any pictures but it looks almost identical to the 03-05 guards. The only difference that I noticed is that the fronts are a bit smaller. I wish I had pictures to show you, but my camera just crapped out on me. I reccomend buying them from Chad@infinitispecialist; he sells them for only $155 + tax (if you live in cali) v. the $210 that the local dealership will charge you.

HAHA! Sorry...

You actually change the oil in your car and also can cook? Wow, there are not many of your kind left. Girls that can do both (and are attractive) have been hunted in extinction here in NorCal .

I am sorry for making a sexist comments relating to this car mishap.

The stereotypes are no longer valid. Many women know more about cars than most men, and there are also some outstanding female drivers, on and off the race track.

I'm not quite sure that's correct. Take the poll yourself, the next 10 female that cross your path (physically) ask them a car question. How about:

What's a timing belt for?

Bet you'll score 0. Sorry I think that stereotype is still accurate.

I would agree that the women of this forum probably are an exception.

Update: I just picked up my car from the dealership and the clicking noise is finally GONE . The replaced some parts inside the axle and regresed everything. It showed on my service reciept that they had replaced around $200 worth of parts but it was covered under the warranty.

Wow... that is a lesson learned. I'm so parnoid about my lugs after removing my wheels, i tend to overtighten them. I know that's almost as bad as not tightening them enough, but until i invest in a torque wrench, i'll err on the "safer" side.

Glad you found the problem and everyone and your ride is okay.
