(2) 2006 6mt coupes dyno'd, pics and vids inside...

I own a 2006 Athens Blue coupe with AEM cold air intake, Megan Y pipe, and Apexi WS exhaust

My co-worker/friend owns a 2006 black coupe with megan y pipe and z tube.

My car made 253whp, his car made 255whp (I know mroe with less mods, i think the intake doesnt do anything at stand still because i can pull 1 car length on him in 4th gear)

here are the vids:

For some reason, these cars can have wildly varying horsepower numbers. Their numbers are pretty high for HP to the wheels, but I've seen people post dynos at 215hp! Who knows why it happens, but there are TONS of variables that can change from first to second dyno like temp, humidity, etc. Your numbers on their particular day may have been 240 if you dyno'd after them.

Did you switch car and raced again? that could be just you are a better driver than your friend.

so the best way to get dependable hp gains is probably FI then?

" The Motordyne MREV stealth mod is specifically designed for use on the "REVUP" engine. This stealth modification adds at least 15+ HP and 18+ TQ and comes complete with Iso Thermal for max imum performance enhancement. MREV adds a substantial amount of upper midrange HP and TQ that can easily be felt. Although results can vary from car to car, all MREV's will add at least 15+ HP and 18+ TQ in the upper midrange with only a slight loss of ~ 2.5 HP at peak power. Overall the mod adds substantial HP and a huge amount of TQ. And once its taken for a test drive there is no mistaking its effect on performance! "

so while the other bolt on products out there try to increase max hp, this will increase hp throughout the power band, giving me a faster car, at the expense of 3 hp at the top end? I assume there are dynos out there, I'll do a search. But this definitely sounds like the way to go.

The reason I'm being so difficult on this subject is I was about to drop a lot of loot on bolt ons till I found out what people were getting on dyno runs compared to stock hp. LITTLE DIFFERANCE!!!!!!!!! I mean, after you drop about 1500 on an intake and exhaust set-up, you MIGHT get 5-10 hp, not worth it.

you being serious? i mean, if you can feel a difference in your "butt dyno" then more power to you. But it sems like the more i read, all these bolt ons do nothing on paper.

Well, I DID look at a bunch of dyno's from the MREV, gotta admit, the way it makes the power curve move to the right, i'm probably going to order one of those and take the hit on the peak hp.
