No.

targa top = extra weight + reduced chassis rigidity

I'm going to have to say yes to a targa if it was ever an option...

Sure, it's added weight and reduced rigidity, but we already made the trade-off going with the G35 over a Z or other sportier car anyhow- I know I'd absolutely love the addition of a targa to what is, by any definition, a GT, not a sports car.

Targa on a G..................not!
We have a great sun roof.......why would you want a
leaky, fuc**t up targa. They were BAD in the '80s
don't wish that crap on us again!!

Sun roofs were bad in the 80's also. I wonder if NSX owners report of widespread leaks.

I went through a long wait to get a 6MT without a sunroof, so no, a targa top wouldn't have been on my list.

As for if it belongs on this car or not is a matter of opinion, which is why having it as an option would be fine with me. The body sure looks like it would work nicely with a targa.

I was thinking about starting a thread like this last week!!!!
After watching "the fast and the furious" (i know its a terrible movie but it was the only thing on) on tv and seeing that supra i have really wanted a targa top on my G, i wonder how much a custom targa top would cost, I would think upwards of 5 grand..

NSX's have had targa's from the get-go, Del Sol's...etc etc. Never had a single leak in either of my 300ZX's t-tops. My friends with Volkswagens, however...they we're slathering vaseline on their weatherstripping to try to keep their sunroofs and windows from leaking everywhere.

Our sunroof is a bit small compared to that of many other cars, but I guess they were restricted by room in the roof. I'd imagine that if we wanted a bigger sunroof, we'd have to have one that was implemented like that of the new Eclipses... where the roof slides back on the outside of the car, rather than sliding into a pocket inside the roof. I'm not at all fond of that idea, so the current sunroof satisfies my needs.

I'd say no to the T-Tops. Most people that I know who have them in Camaro's or old Z's rarely use them anways, since they are a bit of a hassle and messy to remove once the car has aged a few years.

my last corvette was a coupe... and i almost always took the roof off in great weather. i loved that aspect. never ever had problems with the weight or handling of it. but somehow i don't think a removable top would fit the shape of this car.
