idk what would cause the engine bay to smoke. maybe the liquid wrench stuff is burning off the pipes? maybe some oil on the new cats (used cats) is burning... what do u think??

How bad is the smoke? Not normal. The DIY Cat install is a biatch. There must be a huge leak. Check your work again. Look under the car while it is running if possible.

If it is minor smoke then yeah it could be oil burning away. Take it for a spin.

Go for a ride and tell me how much you love your new cats. You may need to put a few miles on before you can really appreciate them. The low idle could possibly go away on it's own. Could be ecu adjusting to the change. Now go beat on your G!

^hehe. i just drove it. it sounds really different. it still has the idle problem. i was really weird noise at first, i think it might have been the suspension cross bar readjusting, from being taken off. that stopped and then i started to hear "rattling" idk if it was the cat rattling on the heat shield, i pounded that really flat, and it looked like i had plenty of room. it sounded like it was only coming from driver side. happens around 3000+ and red line sounds really loud, and very questionable... however theres no "rattling" reving in the garage... i can really really smell them, not exaust but the new cats, smells like metal burning...

ok there new info, any other comments or possible catastrophes???

I got the same rattle on the drivers side. I get it when turning or during acceleration. Heat shield needs to be bent more I guess.

Regarding the idle problem my guess is that its a small leak.

smell goes away in a day or so.

Did you feel a difference in performance?

i want to say i can feel the difference, but i think its only at high RPM's. but it does scream! i don't see how it can be rattling agains tht heat shield, i can literally see the gap between. however, i did break one of the bolts that hold it, so maybe during driving it has a large "excusion". Piero, do u have crawford? how did you torque the passenger side OEM bolt attaching to the headers? thats the only one i wasn't able to torque fully. maybe i need new gaskets, where do i get thoses? damnit, i have a feeling i'm gonna be redoing the entire install this weekend!!!!

Yes, I have Crawford's. I had them installed at a local shop. Took the guy 3 hours. He had a hard time. Your problem is the broken bolt and the fact that the bolts must be fully torqued. There is some play in the system causing the rattle and a small leak. You going to have to go at it again. Once your done you'll be an expert. Then you can come fix mine

I've got the Crawford V2 cats sitting right here, but now I'm wondering if I want to install them with the headers/Y-pipe combo that's going on soon.
