The autos have 280hp and the 6MTs have 298hp. This has been the same throughout the years, I think. The dash layout is different also. Don't know exactly when it changed though.

I bought a used 2005, with everything but navigation (hard to find light colored interior & navigation for some reason) for $29,200. And with only 2000 miles, I pretty much have full warranty.
I like the 19in Ray rims and the interior better than >04 too.

What I'd like to have from the 06 is the blue tooth in the steering wheel. I bought a Parrot system (from this site) that plugs into the radio but haven't installed it yet.

there is an illusion that the G's price doesn't depreciate based on the fact the MSRP for a 2006 is only 33k and invoice is 30.5k. So it wouln't make much sense buying a used one when u can get a new one for like 1k more that what on the used market.

also the 2007 is looking pretty sweet. so i'd almost wait for that one...

It more like 36 to 38 grand MSRP, you can probably knock off a grand-maybe $1500. So it's more like $5,000 savings. Maybe not much to you.... $100 more payment on 48 month loan. But I paid cash and 5 grand was a lot to me.

All G coupes had 280 hp through the 04 model year. For 05, the 6MT increased to 298 hp (at the expense of 10 lb-ft of peak torque) but the automatics remained unchanged.

I bought an 03 coupe, 22k miles on it. 5AT Prem, navi, chromed oem wheels, for 25K. Whoever bought it new paid 35 at least. Also factor in whatever the dealer gave up in trade which is surely less than the 25K that I paid and it looks to me like you get roughly 5K/year depreciation over the first 3 years or so, which is about $416/month. And thats using my very low mileage G as the example. Is that good? My old Honda Civic commuter I sold for $400 less than I paid after a year and a half and 18k miles.

Are the new ones 38K??? These are nice cars but not worth that much imo.. But I never buy new so go figure. Just can't see owning something that loses 400/month in value while I'm paying 400/month to drive it. Thats not leaking thats a money hemorhage.

Heres my fav quote from the article about Bose someone pasted earlier:

Audio newbies often throw out the "But I heard that Bose is good!" defense, to which I respond "From who?" Was it a sound engineer, electrical engineer, materials scientist, studio engineer, sound producer, recording professional, musician, Mark Levinson? Ray Dolby? George Lucas? Anyone credible? Or was it your neighbor with the GoldStar walkman, Teac boom box, Funai mini-system, and Sylvania receiver? Perhaps the ubiquitous Bose Ads that they find in completely irrelevant magazines such as Popular Science, Times, Playboy, GQ, People, Astronomy, etc, had some sort of subliminal effect against the better of their judgment? But that's just conjecture...

I love this guy!

I know, I'm been busy with suspension & light engine mods. I'll look around more this week for a stereo shop to hook it up. I went to a couple places and it was the first time they would of worked on a G; not too inspiring...

I'm looking forward to figuring out how to call out with this tiny device..

Actually I'm embarrassed to say it's going to the body shop this week because my wife, in her infinite wisdom, took a mop to the back of the car and the metal end put this huge deep scratch on the trunk, below the spoiler.
$400 later

I think depreciation is regional too. Where I live, Mississippi, it is very hard to find a coup less than 28K no matter what color/miles/options. Also, keep in mind that the 2003 went on sale in May 2002. So a 2003 is 4 years old at this point. Most cars would be worth 50% of the average sale price in 3-4 years. Most coups sell for $35K from what I've seen on the list so a 2003 coup should be selling ~18K instead I can't find one for less than ~$28K which is 80% of the sell price, which is increadable. Even at $25K which is the lowest I've seen anywhere in markets like Dallas, Huston and Tampa, that's 72%.

Compare the completed listings at Ebay for the G35 with any other car and you'll be amazed how few sell in a month. It's gotten better lately so about 10/month are being sold. A year ago, it was 0.5/month. A lot of the ones sold are salvage titles too so I'm not sure this counts too much.

Once you take into account the improvement in the interrior between the year models, the extra money seems worth it. I'm not saying that if you buy a 2006 it won't depreciate fast, because I think it will. I don't see how the coup can keep it's value up like it has going forward. I really think the 2007 will be the thing that adjusts the used G35 coup market.

Now sedans are a completely different story. I can get a 2003 Sedan for ~17K all day long with low miles. I would never think of buying a new sedan.

Very true! The g35 coupes hold their value extremely well. I was surprised how 03 coupes still cost 25-26k+ regardless of miles/options here in the south.

Most people I know typically keep their cars for 2-3 years on avg so leasing is not a very bad idea at all for this car.

I know that the engine got more hp for the 05 but it lost torque as well so what is the overall outcome? I mean more torque 18 less hp verses 18 less hp but more torque. which car is faster in what aspects?

It more like 36 to 38 grand MSRP
mondo, u might need to double check your #'s. automotive.com shows:

2006 Base RWD 2-Dr Coupe V6 msrp=$33,200 invoice=$30,534
2006 Base RWD 4-Dr Sedan V6 msrp=$31,450 invoice=$28,930
2006 X AWD 4-Dr Sedan V6 msrp=$33,100 invoice=$30,442

http://www.automotive.com/2006/12/in...ing/index.html

And I've also downloaded the brochure from infiniti showing the msrp and these #'s correspond. I haven't been to the dealers, are thay hiking up the price? Where are you getting your #'s?

not sure if he meant msrp or msrp with options. not many people I know buy this car at base and with the typical options it averages around 37-38 new is what i think he meant?
