The Nav is very worth it. I use it every single day.

I'm contimplating an '06 coupe with 6spd and need some advice. Generally, I like the base G with the sport-tuned suspension package...though the premium package sounds great...not important to me. However, I'm moving from Austin to Dallas and will need a Navigation system. I'd prefer the integrated design of Infiniti's nav system...but it sounds like it's not the greatest in the world. And since I can't get it without the whole premium package is it worth it...or would I best be served getting an aftermarket nav system? And if aftermarket is the best way to go...any recommendations? Any opinions would be appreciated.
I've had 3 Infiniti's now and had the same basic Navi on them all and love it.
The most recent version on my M is the best, but I've loved all of them.
If you can afford it, get one.
C.

well, i decided to not go with the navi. Instead I bought a portable navi unit. It only costed $300 total and works great. Plus I can take it with me on any car or even for vacation.

Dont worry about the updated discs, they are really only $150, zenrin.com I think? If you need the exact link let me know and I will find the flyer.

I bought the NAV for my 05 coupe just because I had always wanted it, it has always worked good for me execpt for the time that I selected city street's only without knowing

I'm amazed at how many people think Nav is worth the money. I didn't get it, and I don't regret my decision. I guess it depends on where you live. Maybe if I had to drive in a large city every day I'd have a different opinion. As it stands now, I get by just fine with Mapquest and good old fashioned maps.

If you can afford it, defn get it. The 06 Navs are much improved, better graphics and UI. Ive personally used it a bunch of times to look up phone numbers to places. And people never cease to get amazed when they see it pop out of the dash , id rather have the pop up than the exposed one in the 07 G anyday!

I agree with you...in Austin, I wouldn't need it. In Dallas I have no idea where I'm going.

OEM navi is worth it. It's much more than a NAV. It has all the integrated warning features, door/trunk open warning, distance to empty meter , oil change intervals, oil filter change intervals, ETC ETC. I use them all. Very useful.

I have it with a DVD changer and AV/Switcher with TV tuner. I'll never go back. Make sure you watch the road!

Since I have 3 vehicles, I think a portable GPS is the best solution, you can get nice ones from Garmin or Magellan....the infiniti sales guy told me the Nav option doesn't usually mean better resale on your G, when you trade in someday....this is what the sales guy told me
