Alignment

My car is 05 only has 9000 miles on it, and the alignment's already mess up. Does anyone know how much dealerships usually charge to get alignment done? or is it free?

thanks.

dont go to the dealet,go to firestone and get the lifetime alignment($119.99) you get a print out with every one.do it 4 times a year and save those expensive tires.most dealers alignment machines are older not as accurate.tire stores well thats there business and the machines are much newer.

Be careful with having other shops do alignment. They may not have all the factory specs. At least that's what my dad learned the hard way on his SC400. The shop aligned it way out of spec and ruined the tires. The tires have about 85% tread left but make an awful whine now and pulls to the right. However, at $250 a pop, my dad doesn't want to replace them. It really sucks because you'd expect a Lexus to be whisper quiet. The tire noise alone drives me insane when I'm in the car. Plus, to mention the tech at Lexus took over 3 hours to realign the car back to factory specs. He said it was the worst he had ever seen. I'd be very cautious about who touches my G. I'd probably even be suspicious of Infiniti/Nissan techs. haha

I just had my alignment adjusted - $60 which is pretty typical here in the Northeast. (The car is two years old but only has 4,300 miles on it.) The alignment was out slightly in the rear and was toed-in dramatically on the right front. I've been told before that many cars leave the factory out of spec. I usually request an alignment as part of the negotiations when purchasing, but I was so excited it totally slipped my mind.

Depending on the cause of the bad alignment, it may covered under warranty (12,000 miles or a year for alignment).

^ Usually the car will pull to one side or won't track straight, but sometimes you can't tell until you see some type of strange tire wear such as feathering or cupping.

becareful with firestone and goodyear autoshops!! i have gone to them and they have just created more problems than what i initially came in to fix, also their prices are way higher than other shops...i had taken my GF mustang w/ 5K miles for an oil change and they forgot to put in the oil filter, when i took the car back they did not want to do anything about it, sued the **** out of them and completly won...bastards 100%

My car has almost 30k miles on it and I haven't gotten an alignment yet. No uneven tire wear at all and it still drives as straight as when I first bought it.

to answer the guy who asked "how do I know I need an alignment"

In my case, my steering wheel isn't straight while my car is heading perfectly straight, it was about 15 degrees off. I hit a curb 1 month ago, and also installed my winter wheels.
