Parking the G35
I've had mine for about 4 months and there's no problem parking it at all. It's hard to parallel park it in a tight spot on a hill, but that's what happens with a manual, I guess. I need to get better at using the hand brake for that.
i used to worry about scraping my wheel against a curb parallel parking then i used the little features like electronic mirror adjusters and slant the right side mirror down beemer style, it helps a lot. as for pull-in spots ive never had a problem. Most people have the perception that the G is a small car, it really isnt that small.
I think I may know the reason for the issue that you guys are having, since I'm actually now having the same problem, but its only starting now after driving the car for 4 months. During the first four months, I drove the car on snow tires that were not as wide as the stock tires, and were all equal widths, unlike the different size between front and back on the stock rims/tires. On turn in on the snows, the car tracked more like a normal passenger car, where the rear tires did not track a tighter radius nearly as much as it does now with the stockers. Now, it feels more like driving a long truck, I exaggerate turns right now by going wide in slow corners, just so I know I won't clip the curb with the rear. On parking spaces I swing wide before turning in as well. However, with the stocks tires, on high speed corners, the car has a more neutral stance, and I feel like rear tuck in and give the car a feeling of a normal attitude. On the snow tires, high speed lane changes always felt like the rear was loose, and the car was more prone to oversteer in almost all conditions (throttle on, off, and neutral). So I can understand why the car has been set up the way it has in the stock condition, since high speed, spirited driving feels good. But it makes parking a chore (especially in the tight spaces of the Northeast). I think over time, I'll just learn to deal with it, and swinging wide the right amount before turning in will just be second nature. But understanding the problem is the key, IMO.
Ya i've noticed that the g can be a beast to park... parking my fam's es300 is easier than the g35 even tho its a bigger car. At the same time I'm sort of used to driving a chevy 2500hd crew cab from time to time, so anything feels nimble compared to that. I must say though, I had my 300zx tt outa storage a while back and god did that thing turn on a dime compared to the g... parking was so easy.

Okay, I thought I was the only one who had trouble parking. Glad I'm not alone! I've found that if I park slightly more toward the right -- or at least that's what I'm seeing from the driver's seat, I'm actually straight when I open my door and look down at the parking lane line. My boyfriend thinks it's because the front of the car gets more narrow toward the front end. I used to drive a Trans Am and never had a problem parking it. I still have no idea where the tail end of the G35 is... backing in to a stall is so embarrassing!
For some reason I can't make right turns in this car. I've never had this problem before, but in the past 6 months I've hit the curb 4 or 5 times with the right front wheel. I feel retarded sometimes in this car. Parking straight is not a problem for me, but the car is just too low and I always scrape the bumber on the curb, b/c I don't want to leave the back end out to get hit.
