Dont worry about that noise it's common to all the 6mt's. And congrats on making the right choice on trannys!! Good luck with the car.

Are you guys talking about that rattle when you turn the engine off? I have noticed it a couple times on my 6MT too.

It has to be a Getrag thing. My '99 Vette 6MT did the exact same thing. After a while, I started thinking the noise was sorta cool.

Re: noobie stick driver question!! HELP!!!

The rattling bothered me at first, then I realized its just the goodies in the tranny settling down...."clutch in", no goodies moving inside tranny.....don't worry it's a normal characterstic in the design.

Re: noobie stick driver question!! HELP!!!

I wouldn't worry too much about it man unless it's excessively loud or if it happens with the clutch pedal in. It's basically clutch "chatter" and is common on alot of high performance 6 speed trannies. A guy I met had almost the exact same sound on his TT Supra and had taken in the dealer several times. They always told him there is nothing wrong and that it was common on that tranny. I have also heard it on some Vettes and Saleens as well. When I asked about it at my dealer they said the same thing. It was a result of the high tension springs used to make the car clutch plate shift faster or somethin like that. They said that if it makes the noise with the clutch pedal in though that the clutch throw-out bearing is bad and that should be checked. Enjoy your 6MT!
