I took my coupe into the dealer to get the grease streak problem and fixed and my 1000 mile checkup and I received a loaner g35 sedan for a day. I don't know why, but it seemed faster than my car, and much more loose. When i got my car back, it seemed a bit slower and a little bit stiffer, especially the steering wheel and accelerator. Does anybody know why? Thanks guys.

Re: 4Door seems faster than my coupe
Yes, yes, yes, I totally agree with you. My brother has a 4 door and it is so smooth and fast. I personally do not know why. You are right about it being loose, it seems like when you tap the gas peddle it just goes. In my coupe it harsh shifting and its stiff. I was thinking that with 20 more horse power the coupe shoud be faster and smoother but its actually the sedan. I'm just as baffle as you are.

Especially when I want to pick up and go like lets say from 20-40mph, it seems like my coupes auto trans just don't want to down shift unless I stab it really hard but then it shifts really really harsh.

I actually wish I have the set up in the sedan as compare to the coupe's, but the exhaust has me hooked.

I hope others can help with this issue.

Wow, everything you said is completely true. I noticed the exact same thing, especially the looseness in the sedan, and the rolling pickup is correct as well.

Re: 4Door seems faster than my coupe
You guys should try the ECU reset. You may find that lost performance.
The loaners are generally driven hard from what I've read here, and the ECUs are always being taught 'spirited' driving.
Our own cars prolly aren't driven the same.
Give them a try. You'll find them in our 'FYI' forum HERE

The stand by battery disconnect works too but takes at least 12 hours, and some settings like radio, and seat are lost.

Re: 4Door seems faster than my coupe
So exactly what is the point of the ECU resetting?

I guess it clears out the "retained" memory of past/current driving habits and basically allows you restart with a clean sheet.

I agree, just returned sedan loaner that I had for 2 days while coupe in for 11K service (mostly rattles, sunroof and window problems and hot-air issues. Seems more responsive than coupe in light traffic. Also the overall lack of rattles and creaks is apparent. Brakes seem quite sensitive as well.

Oh man, I just got a sedan loaner today and noticed the same damm thing. It feels a little faster then my coupe 6mt. I can't believe I have to reset the ECU everytime I want to have fun with this car. Would a performance ECU stop this resetting ECU bullsh$t

I also agree, I drove a loaner the other day and it feels so much more responsive. Does the ECU reset apply to the 6MT also?

Re: 4Door seems faster than my coupe
You all must have defective coupes because my 6MT coupe is way faster than the loaner G35 sedan AT. ECU reset does nothing for the 6MT so that can not be it.

Re: 4Door seems faster than my coupe
i disagreed. i test drove the coupe and the sedan and now bought the sedan, and the 20 extra hp on the coupe really shows it, it so much faster than my sedan.

Re: 4Door seems faster than my coupe
The difference in performance is probably related to how the adaptive ECU has programed your car as well as how the loaners ECU has adapted. Loaners are driven real hard!

I believe the Sedan's ECU is seriously de-tuned when compared to the G35 Coupe's and the 350Z's. Perhaps Yuichi or one of the TechnoSquare guys can verify.

Nissan/Infiniti can't have a 4-door luxury sedan out running their sport cars. Of course, those who know can modify their Sedan to the same levels as the Coupes and Zs.

Yuichi (Strickly Z) is working on a Super Sedan Package. Don't underestimate the Sedan! I want mine to be a sleeper, look stock and run like at hot Coupe or Z.

Re: 4Door seems faster than my coupe
Yeah my coupe feels faster than the loaner sedan too...maybe it's because it is a 6MT. I love the feel of the coupe so much more than the sedan too...just feels more solid and stiff....it definitely handles better.
