How many miles sh/could a new car have?
Hi,
I posted this in the buying and leasing section but not many view those threads. So thought I'd repost it here.
I'm shopping around for a new 2006 6MT Coupe. In your experience how many miles could the car have when the dealer hands over the keys?
What if the dealer were to get(drive) the car from another dealer?
Basically I'm trying to steer clear of cars that might have too many miles on it, but I want to understand what "too many" means.
Thanks.

In California, a new car dealer can sell a car with say for example 7,000 miles on it as "NEW". They can do so only if the car hasn't been previously registered or sold to someone and the deal fell through. On average, about 10 miles or less if the car is fresh off the truck. My car had 8 miles on it. I saw my G rolling off the truck when I signed my deal. That was 2 years ago...Now it has 40K....How many miles does the car you're interested in getting have on it? Ask the dealer for a free oil change, car wash, extra full-tank of gas it it has more than 100miles on it...Remember, DEALER always wants to sell what is on the lot...!
