for the heck of it I went to an acura dealership because I was thinking of getting a TL as a second car. they asked if I wanted to trade in my G35. I played along and asked how much they would give me for it. they quoted me $30k. basically you'll get more for your car going to another maker.

I don't like mods, you can take it out, and pay me some cash by the books for my 05 AT.

I wouldn't mind take an 04 with some cash.

what's the mileage on your car?

Easiest thing would be going to kbb.com, get your private party value, I will do the same on mine. (9500 miles, with all packages except nav) black and stone interior.

Then we can work out a number, where you located?

BTW, do anyone know if trade cars need to pay any sales tax?

hey man I would do that, but I wouldnt wanna rip you off. youll get a car with squeaks and rattles, and has had 2 trannies replaced, and probably gonna go in for the 3rd. had Bose stereo replaced, rear axle replaced (clicking) its clicking again, cruise control stopped working had to get it fixed, and windows not operating (keeps going back down) for the 3rd time. im starting to feel that this is a lemon??? any ideas (sorry for the hjack, ill make my own thread)

Your going to lose SO much money trading in for the same car.

Just out of curiosity, why'd you get 5AT if you wanted a 6MT?

you will never get "excellent" trade-in value on your car. i know this because i work for a dealership and i know how this works.

there are a few ways in which dealerships "show" you more money than what your car's actually worth,
1. by giving you a trade "allowance", meaning trade-in value plus whatever discount they're willing to give you on the new vehicle.
2. by showing you a trade-in value, including some of the rebates or incentives that the manufacturer might be offering at that time, thus, not telling you about the rebate, but including that in your trade-in value... but if you knew about the rebate, you would be getting that anyway...

you can visit different dealerships for different trade-in values, but they won't be all that much different. when someone buys a car and drives off the lot, then comes right back wanting to trade it in, they'll give you around invoice price minus $2000-$2500. so in this case, your car is almost a year old, 2006's are out, around 10,000 miles on it...usually book values are right on the money. (kbb, black book, etc...)

Sounds like your car's having a lot of issues. Stuff like tranny's almost out scares me, cause i don't know how to do any of the repairs myself.

I wish someone would trade me an old S2000 plus some cash though. I always go through this in life. Before I own anything i always feel so exciting getting it. but after having it for a while I feel it's nothing special about it. same goes with girls. Maybe it's time to learn how to appreciate.
