for the heck of it I went to an acura dealership because I was thinking of getting a TL as a second car. they asked if I wanted to trade in my G35. I played along and asked how much they would give me for it. they quoted me $30k. basically you'll get more for your car going to another maker.

what's the mileage on your car?
Easiest thing would be going to kbb.com, get your private party value, I will do the same on mine. (9500 miles, with all packages except nav) black and stone interior.
Then we can work out a number, where you located?
BTW, do anyone know if trade cars need to pay any sales tax?

you will never get "excellent" trade-in value on your car. i know this because i work for a dealership and i know how this works.
there are a few ways in which dealerships "show" you more money than what your car's actually worth,
1. by giving you a trade "allowance", meaning trade-in value plus whatever discount they're willing to give you on the new vehicle.
2. by showing you a trade-in value, including some of the rebates or incentives that the manufacturer might be offering at that time, thus, not telling you about the rebate, but including that in your trade-in value... but if you knew about the rebate, you would be getting that anyway...
you can visit different dealerships for different trade-in values, but they won't be all that much different. when someone buys a car and drives off the lot, then comes right back wanting to trade it in, they'll give you around invoice price minus $2000-$2500. so in this case, your car is almost a year old, 2006's are out, around 10,000 miles on it...usually book values are right on the money. (kbb, black book, etc...)

I wish someone would trade me an old S2000 plus some cash though. I always go through this in life. Before I own anything i always feel so exciting getting it. but after having it for a while I feel it's nothing special about it. same goes with girls. Maybe it's time to learn how to appreciate.
