Scheduled Maintenance
Scheduled Maintenance
Does everyone get their scheduled maintenance done at the dealerships according to booklet that came with the manual? I have an 04 6mt w/ 15k now. The last time I brought my car to the dealership was the first oil change. LOL
Do they really check everything they are supposed to? What does everyone recommend? How much did everyone pay? I think I should take my car there sometime soon!

Personally... I think all recommended maintenance at a dealer is an overpriced crock of Sheeyit on a manual transmission vehicle. You can get it done elsewhere or do it yourself for significantly cheaper. For the most part, they don't do anything magical.
Just lube your various door/trunk/hood hinges up, flush your coolant, change your tranny gear oil and differential gear oil, oil change, air-filter change and spark-plugs and belts(plugs and belts don't need to be done often on this car.. perhaps at 50-80K), and top off your brake, clutch and wiper fluids.
With an Auto tranny, you'd probably want to bring it in to a professional so they can use a machine to flush the system out.. since you can't effectively do this on your own without access to one of those machines(or whole bunch of clean extra tranny fluid that you're willing to waste).
All other maintenance items should probably be performed on an as-necessary basic.... such as brake pad replacement, O2-Sensor, wheel allignment and balancing(usually done with tire replacement unless you had a monumental run-in with a significant pothole or other allignment/balance-altering driving obstacle).
In-Cabin filter can be replaced too, and you can do it yourself.
I guess it all depends on how valuable your time is to you and whether or not you enjoy or are capable/good at doing this sort of thing yourself.
