Was your lock messed up? I know thieves figured out that you can pop off our lock and short the wires out and the windows roll down on our car. They did it to my friend's car twice in NJ. Apparently it's a safety feature of our car. So if you were to drive into water it would short the wires and roll the windows down. But if your lock wasn't messed up, I would say maybe you were laying down on your couch and like somebody said above, you accidentally held the unlock button down. Possibly you were laying on it and it pressed the red button on your remote and the unlock button at the same time causing it to roll the windows down and set your alarm off.

I'd like to know if there's damage to the lock. Should be some signs if a screwdriver was in there.

If you hold down the 'unlock' button on the remote then after a few seconds the windows drop. The unlock itself probably caused the lights to come on. If you hold down the panic button the alarm goes. It could be a malfunction or it could be you sat on your keys (has happened to me after less than 2 weeks of owning!). Or it could have been a genuine break-in attempt..

Man that is scary, now I have to be careful. SI is the safest borough in NYC that is why we are in an Island separated from the outside world and guarded by water That's why my car stay in the garage every time. I don't think they tried to steal your car but probably they were looking for spare keys/documents or targeting your headlight/wheels. Maybe they are dumb enough to think that they can stick a screw driver on the ignition key thinking they can start it that way.

Get the keyhole cover, like the passanger side. That wont stop a thief, but he will think twice before he starts to work on it since there is a possibility that you removed the whole lock.

I would think that most thiefs would probably just find an easier target than take time to mess around with the cover just to see if the lock is still there.

And it looks better.

There's no such thing as a "safe" borough anymore. If you live in the metro area, chances of this happening is VERY GOOD, sad to say . Just have to be careful out there. My roomate's Lexus was almost stolen outside our place. Thank god the neighbor saw it and called the cops!

I have Mobile Guardian on my G. If the alarm goes off it sends me an email and a text message to my cell. I can also track the locaton of my G online.

Do you know where your G is ?

Mine was broken into New Years Eve and a friends was broken into on Christmas eve. In my case they busted the lock and searched the car. The cops said they were looking for the valet key to steal the car since its not easy to hotwire. In my friends case she had a slight scratch on the door near the handle. The cops said they probably used a strong magnet to activate the mechanism in the locks that opens the windows.

Either way its nice to know its not easy to steal the car but it sure is frustrating to know that someone hase tried.

I'll be interested. How much is it, and where do I get it?
