It's not worth it if you are using the car on the streets. If you ever got into an accident and your insurance company found out that you disabled the air bags you might be in for an a** raping.

^+++1 Good call on that, you'd be really disappointed if you were in an accident and they found that you'd disabled a safety feature.

And no, airbags will NOT deploy unless their sensors are tripped off by a sudden impact. So removal with the battery connected is a possibility. But...whenever I'm messing with anything electrical I disconnect the battery anyway. Better safe than shorted out!

I believe his point on the airbag was checking if it would be safer to disconnect the airbag only for the duration of removing his car seat. And yes, I've read in numerous posts here and there that its recommended to disconnect the battery to prevent accidental deployment when working around an airbag (typically the dash area)

Yes that is what I meant. I am NOT trying to disconnect the airbags at all. I actually have cloth seats and I got my hands on a set of leather seats and want to do the swap. Has anyone ever changed the their seats out before? If so could you tell me exactly how to take out the seats? Oh and is anyone interested in some cloth seats??? <---They are rare

I read someone having difficulties reconnecting their passenger side air bag seat sensor when they removed their seats.
