Go for a M roadster or M Coupe. He'd be wanting the handling back once he takes that VDC off.

I think this is just an M3-owner looking for confirmation.

overall I think the g35 and Z may look a more aggressive than the ///M3...with that said I still would rather have an ///M3

It better for 10-15K more....Put 10-15K into a G and see who wins? M3's are nice indeed (although they are one of the most terrible sounding cars on the road) but its an overpriced 3-Series on roids. I rather go for the all out sexyness of the G, and if he wants it to be faster...then go FI and he'll be spankin M3's every single night of his life

Can I get an Amen?

2002 M3 run 4.8 seconds 0-60. According to few magazines I've read, supercharged or turboed G35s only come down to 5.3 or 5.1 at best, from stock 5.8.
In any event, I was set on buying a used car after loosing an arm and a leg on my previous car that I bought new, and just couldn't buy a used M3 after hearing all the reliability issues. I love my used G35 even though I'm not the fastest guy on a road, especially since speed is not everything I'm looking for. Infiniti's warranty, and the G has some really good atributes that BMW just can't beat.

$10-15K is just about enough to blow the engine on a G35tt. Build the motor and then we're talking, but sorry to say, $10-15K will get you nowhere with a G35. M3 vs G35 has been discussed more times than the theory of evolution, let's stop beating a decomposed horse. The guy already has an M3 and FI was never mentioned, let's keep his thread on topic and not turn it into another ugly argument.

your brother is insane! i loved my bimmer (e36 m3) but when it was time to get something new, i switched to an 02 audi a4. loved that car, but i didnt quite know why i loved it, handled like the bimmer. but once i got my g35 coupe, i knew instantly what it was, German cars are just built better than japanese cars(with the exception of some japanese models, g35 not included). i can't wait til i have enough money saved to buy my future bimmer. im keeping the g, but like the slogan says, "its the ultimate driving machine." tell him to keep the bimmer.

Be quite honest, I would actually see it as downgrade but I am weird that way, oh yes, we do lost few bucks from the "depreciations", at least we could afford to do it tho and probably will do it continuously, I am thinking on trading the M3 in next year already, if not? def. in 08. I sure dont want throw myself into depression when I have to look for an used car even if its C4 or Turbo, not saying that used car isnt great vaule, just not more than couple of years old.

Tell him to Keep the M unless his mileage is up to 100k... then get a newer M! Or tell him to wait for the 335i and buy that!

Some people said 'the m3 is just a roided up 3-series". That is partially true, but did anyone complain about the 3-series? It still beat the G35 coupe in magazine reviews (except for 1 comparo when the G35 sedan won).

The chassis is nice and stiff - when I jack it up to lift the rear wheel, the whole side lifted up instead of sagging like most other cars.

The G35 is still a great car but it is not in the same league as the M3, hence the big price difference. They are both sexy in their own way. The M3 is actually more practical -- it has more space inside and has some better features & ergonomics. Your bro can do whatever he wants, it's his money. If he decides on his next car based on an internet discussion, he needs to grow a sack.

It is a opinion, to see what others feel, and yes the decision is up to him.
