Tire choice
I like the look of the Bridgestone S-03, but the Goodyear GS-D3 won a head to head competition against all the major high performance tires. I will see if I can find the article and post later.
They are also one of the most reasonably priced.

But will they last..............?

great tires I could fly down the freeways @ 80 in the
driving rain and not a bobble...........but they only
lasted 10,000 miles. Now I run only Michelins even
if they cost more they're better than Bridgestone because they last and have the same traction.

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A's, because its hard to find tires in 285/35/19
what sucks is that they are asymmetrical so they can't be rotated, and they are expensive as hell. Ill probably go with the michelin pilot sport ps2's next but itll run me about $1600 for the set
Eagle F1 GS-D3's were by far my favorite tires though.

My 03 came with the Michelin PS2's and they are great but.....after 19,500 miles they make quite a bit of noise. No visible wear but the dealer says they are cupped. Since they can't be rotated easily, I'll just ride them out for awhile. It sounds like a wheel bearing but it's the tires. I won't buy another set but will go with something else. I'm reading this thread with interest.

In the same boat. The tire roar on certain stretches of road is really irritating, especially from the fronts. I honestly now just want an acceptable performance tire (even mediocre performance) and the absolute quitest tire out there!

for summer ultra high perf, the toyo t1R's are a good choice and not too expensive.
Bridgestone just came out with a new all season high perf. called the Potenza RE960AS to compete with the Pilot Sport AS's. I'll be putting a set on my G within the next couple months, supposed to out perform the Michelin's in most every category.

Avon Tech M500
Bought from tirerack.com last fall. I was looking for something less expensive than the OEM Pilot Sports and a quieter ride.
On the plus side, they're noticably quieter than the original tires and aren't quite as harsh on rough roads. Traction seems fine. Decent price.
On the minus side: the sidewalls are softer than the Pilot Sports so they feel a little bit soft when cornering at speed.
I haven't put enough miles on them to comment on tread wear.
