Newb here looking for info.
Hi everyone, I'm new here, and while not owning a G35, I'm looking at them.
I've got an 06 WRX TR I might get rid of. I got it back in November and haven't exactly loved the car. It's fun, it's cute, but it's not for me. The seats kill me on long drives and have no support (I'm small and slide around), the transmission feels horrible (way too notchy and stiff for me), the interior is just crap, and I get horrible gas mileage. Plus AWD was one of the big pushes to go Subaru, and I never actually drove in the snow, well, except to go drifting a few times. I also got an amazing deal on it, which was what made me get it in the first place.
Fortunately, my father is in love with the car, and offered to give me top dollar for it, so I'm thinking it might be worth going for to get myself something better. So, I've started looking at nicer cars, the G35 Coupe and Sedan, 350Z, IS250, S60R, 3-Series, CTS, Crossfire, A4, pretty much anything in that range.
So, anyone got some comparisons on how the G coupe and sedan will rate coming from a 2.5L WRX?
I've been searching around and have gotten plenty of good information, but it would be nice to have a direct comparison if possible. Plus general advice on the whole deal.

wrx to g coupe
Hey man. I just got out of a 4 year lease with an 02 WRX. This past wednesday i picked up an 06 6MTGcoupe. I'll tell you how I feel after 3 days. I've had to get used to where the clutch grabs on the G, but now i'm used to it and its no problem. I feel like the WRX had a much greater pull in 1st and 2nd, but I believe I can just attribute that to the wonderfull turbo lag you feel untill you hit full boost and its like WOW..you should know what I'm talking about. The G has a much greater high end pull than the WRX. The pull of the WRX died at like 60. I really dont think the G is that much slower, its just smooth power right through the gears. As for the handling, the body roll in the WRX compared to the G is huge i think. maybe it is just because the G is brand new and not entirely broken in, but wow, I am impressed with the handling thus far, although I have not pushed it too too much. Also, for a sport tuned suspension the G absorbs alot of road bumps and holes. In the wrx you feel it right in your seat. Now for the largest part. The interior of the WRX just plain SUCKS. Moving from the WRX to the G...is like day and night. The seats of the WRX used to kill my lower back after an hour or two in it. The G's seats are SO comfortable compared to the wrx, I mean it..such a difference. Although many on these forums bash the G interior, i think it is beautiful compared to the crappy plastic wrx. Also, the base options of auto up windows and climate control with an outside temp gauge is great. Not to mention being able to drop your windows via key remote. Last, just look at the wrx next to the G. Its like goofy teenager and sleek sports car. I had a bright blue wrx. I didn't want to go into law school and then eventually a law firm in that kind of car. With the G you have people drool, not laugh. I always tried to earn older people's respect with the WRX and its great acceleration. The G speaks for itself. I will miss the AWD, being in NJ, but I will get used to it. The traction control has already been yelling at me constantly on dry pavement...gotta get used to RWD. Also, the exhaust notes dont compare whatsoever. I always feel like im giving the G more gas than I really am. Go test drive the G, you'll fall in love with it. I did, and like I said, its like night and day to the WRX....
phew..longest post ever.
Hope my insight helped somewhat. later

Wow, thanks for the advice 06BLACKMT. I've actually got an appointment to test drive a Coupe and Sedan later today, so I'm going to see how I feel about them.
Thanks for the advice though, it really helps.

Well, I test drove the G35 coupe/sedan, the 350Z and a few others today (C280, 330i, and ES350) and honestly I didn't like the G35 one bit. The interior was only marginally better than the Z, but the car felt so slow compared to it, it felt quite slow compared to my WRX. It was faster than the others I drove, but the other cars felt so much better to drive.
All in all I was rather dissapointed and have crossed the car off my list.
Thanks everyone for their help though.
