Question Need your advice.please help

Hey guys, first post, sorry if its in the wrong place.
I drive a Lexus GS400 and have been looking to replace it with a G35 coupe....have been looking for quite a while.

Found one and got the price to a place I think is reasonable, but wanted to bounce it off these forums first.

here are the stats:

03 G35 Coupe Automatic - 1 Previous Owner
65,000 miles
Black on Black Leather
Premium Package, Performance Tire and Wheel Package, Aero Package
Navigation, Sat Radio

Come with extra set of 16" wheels and snow tires (good life left)
Aftermarket Remote Starter

Car is in great shape. Got the price to $21,000.
Do you all think this is a good price based on your experience? Should I worry about a G with 60+k miles....major services in my future?

Thanks for any information and advice...hopefully be able to join this forum as an owner soon!

Well, the warranty is shot. So, anything that needs to be done is going to cost you. I say try and get an extended warranty for the car so you'll be covered. The price isn't bad though. As for performance tires, I'm sure the original are gone so how do you know it is performace?

ok....this is what we got so far

1) milleage - check...which is why i am payign 21k for it instead of 35k
2) out of warranty - check...every J car ive owned has cost me very little to maintain
3) tires - riiiighhhttt...i was refering to the performance package my man...

I guess I am looking for more regarding what you all have seen in terms of pricing on used Gs with similar stats... statements like "high miles" and "no warranty" are kind of obvious arent they?

Any major repair like a tranny or a front end will cost you thousands, no joke. I wouldn't own one of these without a warranty. Buy this one instead:

I bought my '03 fully loaded (even a DVD conversion on factory Navi) 5 weeks ago with 25k on it for $24k. You could probably find a better deal.

Heikes,

Good information man...thats what I am looking for....sounds like a great deal. I am trying to get something in the low 20s, but would be willing to pay 3k more for over half the milleage.

hmmmmm

what to do.....

what would be the right price for the car I described your opinion (or anyone else on the form)?

Yes, they are abvious but I guess you are seeing what we are trying to say: what you have there is something that will costs you in the long-run with what we pointed out. In other words, shop around because 1) the miles are way too high for an '03 2) you are going to pay $$$$ (yes, four $ signs) once something breaks (not if, but when) 3) how are the tires, (i.e. is it worned out ?) brakes, etc. because you already know that that car comes with performance tires and that will not be cheap to replace and if it has Brembo's that will cost alot to upkeep too.

Just my .02 worth.

I bought my '03 about 7 months ago for 27k, I think. It only had 21k miles on it. I think you should find one with less miles for about 25 or 26k. $21k is probably the right price for that many miles, but you should still try to avoid it.

mephistomyhero,

understood. but you are assuming alot about the car...unless the G35 is lemontastic in general, which i believe it is not, you can't ASSUME all these pricey repairs....a few examples from my life:

bought a 98 Lexus GS400 in 02 with 69,000 miles on it.....have it today with ~110k miles on it.....ask me what money i've had to put into it in the last 4+ years.....oil changes and rear brakes...wow, thats alot of $ right?

next: 00 Civic SI, bought it in 01 with 30k on it and road it to 70k, $ spent.....oil changes....

Unless all you boy racers on here work the sh*t out of the nissan motor/tranny, these cars last...

Until you've expreience a japanese car out of warranty, you have never truly been free =P

Oh, I had my old 87 Maxima when I bought it in 92 when it had 80K miles on it. I sold it in 2003, so I know what a Japanese car is when it is out of warranty. Hey, don't get me wrong, I think it is a good deal but if you want to convice yourself that problems WON'T happened, then all the power to you. I only pointed out the facts and suggested some reasons why I wouldn't buy it. If you use them, great, if not then also fine. It's only opinions. Oh, I'm not saying that these cars are prone to problems, but have you done a search on these cars yet? Better yet, speaking of "lemons", do a search on that Boy racers...you don't need to be a "boy racer" to have problems with Nissans or Infiniti. I do agree that these cars lasts (that is why I bought another Nissan or rather Infiniti). However, after my last Nissan Maxima, I'm not buying one out of warranty. Also, that's why I bought a new G35, because once you read what people do to these cars (i.e. "I drive the car hard from day one...I'm not planning on keeping it"), you'll less likely buy it used. That's why I suggested getting an extended warranty. If you are still leaning on getting it, then go have it checked out by a mechanic that you know. Piece of mind goes a long way

Sounds like a lot of money for that many miles and no warranty...
