Forget the mods, air filter suggestions, engine break-in issues. 10 MPG is not acceptable under any circumstances. I've gotten a minimum 19 MPG from the day I bought my 03 coupe and I've gotten as high as 27 on pure highway driving. You have one or both of the following two problems:

1) You are pounding the accelerator to the floor all the time
2) You're engine has a very serious fuel management problem that you need to have the dealer address immediately.

Btw, if #1 is part or all of your problem, expect to replace your brakes by 20K.

black on black i feel for you dude

my g get around 11 mpg city... i took it to service and they say its my driving style. ya i may rip the car and give it some gas here and there but the mpg on this car sux. .... dealer wont help. i suggest you do what i did.

the gs gas tank is very unbalenced so the odomoeter is usually wrong my gas light can come one and then 15 miles later it will go off again.. air collected in the tank is also a big factor. what i did was i ran my car bellow empty till the point i was below the e. drive your car for 35 miles after the light goes on...then let it cool off over night. in the moring fill her up all the way till gas shoots out of ur tank. you should notice an increase in mpg... well there wont be any increase in mpg realistcly just your arrow will be more acurate..

at least theres sum1 else on this side of the block...but yea that would jus cause it to indicate the right amount of gas in the tank, not do much for mpg... did u check ur air filter? sum of the guys mentioned it, maybe u did and it made no difference or maybe u havent and u can try it out, thats what im doing this weekend.

whether i pound the accelerator or not..i honestly get the same fuel economy i try to keep the rpm's under 3000 and i still get 10mpg.. another guy jus mentioned he took his to the dealer and they left it as his driving habits.

Take off your e-brake.

Seriously, though, 10mpg sounds WAY too low. Have you averaged this over multiple tanks?

We are know that our G's love their gas.

Talk to your service advisor's. I recommend synthetic oil. It gave me an extra
1-3 MPG better.

If this doesn't work

Try this

Could be your brake system, your caliper may be dragging. LFD(Lead Foot Disease) is crappy for gas mileage, great for haulin @ss.

The only way to measure your gas consumption accurately is to do what the other guy said above. Drive your car close to Empty, reset tripmeter, fill it up, drive car back to empty, fill it up, divide tripmeter miles by # of gallons. Do this a few times and get a good avg. Don't rely on your idiot light for accuracy.
