I've got a little dilemma, and was hoping to solicit some feedback from fellow parents on driver....

For those of you with a wife (or husband) and kids, would you drop your G35 sedan even if the vehicle was the primary method of transportation for the family? Although I'd love to lower the car, I won't pursue it if the wife/kids have to pay the price in ride comfort.

For those of you that don't know, I was pretty much set on changing out my ugly OEM bumper and side/rear skirts the day I drove the car off the lot this past March. (I actually would never have bought the G35 Sedan if I didn't see the incredible pics of your modded sedans on this site!) Anyway, I'm now getting a bit concerned because I'm having some difficulty finding pics of hot sedans that are still at the stock height.... I mean--even if I do change out the bumper/skirts, I'm guessing my car will still look awkward without the finishing touch of the drop. (Believe it or not, I used to think the lowered look was kind of ghetto, so I've never owned a lowered car before.) So, I'm now at the point of holding off from the bumper/skirt changes until I can find someone I can emulate at stock height.

Any thoughts/ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your guidance...again.

P.S. I hope I haven't offended any sedan owners who are at stock height.

 

Im 40 wife two young kids, but my G not my everyday driver maybe once a week I'll drive it. I was concern about the ride if I lowered it so I went with H-Tech just low enough and the ride is comfortable. almost close to stock ride. Good Luck

 

edit--pics with z front-cpe rear springs.
comfortable, compliant ride, no-bounce/chop in the ride, handles great, no-rub, aligned to cpe specs, could not be happier.

 

at the very least, you need to lower the front a little like Texan did. A bigger wheel gap up front is not appealing to anyone!

You will need to lower it to have it looking good.. Like yourself, I have a wife and a kid too and I never ever slam it...just lower it around 1" all around and you will find even with stock wheels looks heaps better. No amount of wheels and bodykit will make ur car look good unless u lower it.

no, not a chance. A drop is IMO the single most important exterior mod for any G. Especially the sedans

 

Thanks for the feedback, man. Sorry, just to clarify: Your car hasn't been lowered in your attached pics, right? (If so, I'm having a hard time seeing the 1/2" difference--would you happen to have before/after pics?)

 

Hells no.....you need a drop.

 

go with stock z springs, lowers about an inch and the ride is similar to stock and no camber issues

 

what he said. i did this and with the stock 18s it looked pretty good. might have to go lower now that i'm on 19s...

 

Z springs will involve some camber issues. I think the H techs are a good idea for your situation.

 

I agree with Gdup...at least a slight drop upfront will give it more of an appearance of being lowered (racked look).

When I first bought my car I didnt want to change anything Give it some time, you'll drop it.

 

how do the H&R springs compare to the Z-springs/H tech, etc ? I just read the entire "X" lowering thread and my head hurts.

Someone put it to me simply.. whats the least insane drop? I don't want to have to mess with chamber issues.

 

i have the H&R's w/M45 19's... and it's the perfect drop BUT you will have camber issues. i'd say go w/the Eibach kit for a more tame drop w/less issues.
