Does anybody think that the new bodystyle is gonna make this one obsolete?
It's consider a "first year car" because it has new body panels and new interior panels that can lead to problems. It's not just simply panels, but other things as well such as electronics and even the engine and chassis has undergone a revamping.
That's alot of modifications to call it a revision. Most cars that undergo a revision usually has minor interior and exterior changes, but not the whole car.
But I see opinions are different and I'd like to ask then what makes the next gen of a car a "first year car"?

I happen to like what I've seen of it - a lot!

If I were in the market for a G, I'd wait. The new G isn't growing in size plus the new model has so many more refinements for basically the same price:
1) paddle shifters
2) far better interior
3) true dual exhaust
4) 315hp V6 with a whopping 7500rpm redline
5) cleaner looks (though the current gen is a classic)
6) MP3 plug-in and all that jazz
Plus a whole host of other improvements. I think when you guys see a Sport packaged equipped 2nd gen G sedan, you'll go nuts.
The new gen will also be an easy 13-second car out of the box.

On the '07 the main thing I would
over is the powertrain.
- all else is window dressing.

calling the new G a 13 second car is a bit unfair, for the current models run 14.6 on average; the best that the new gen. will be able to produce is 13.9, if that. they havent speculated on HP yet, but my guess would be 310, plus all the extra weight that is going to be piled on... i highly doubt it will break 13 seconds...
