Starting at 60, going up to 100ish (fastest we've gone) it's pretty even. He constantly tells me that his car is no beast between 60 and 120. In fact, he just got eaten by a stock 03 Cobra in this range, and that car isn't necessarily known for it's higher speed performance.
I think the SMG and the manual are pretty equal performance wise.
The mest up part is that most of the M3 owners don't know how to drive. Tell u the truth i was losing respect for them after i beat two m3 coupes. Then one of the people i know that really knows how to shift/drive, showed me what the M3 is capable of, yes the outcome was ugly and the same driver also beat a 6.0GTO 6MT from 0-120. So my point is you don't know what kind of driver is going to be behind the M3. With a proper driver the M3 will do very low 13s in decent track.

EDIT: There was different M3 with 20s went even with my friends GTO with 17s from 60-120 in front of my eyes. The M3 had a passenger and the GTO was alone just the driver.

The AT is slow...took a while to get to speed. I say M3 by a cakewalk.
