Climate Control, Temperature and Compass display freaking out!

So my car is almost 4 years old and and the display (climate control, compass) above the clock freaked out the other day. This has happened about 3 times during my ownership. The display will just start flashing a lot on nonsense. All the lights will come on, the econ light will flash, compass will flash and constantly change, etc. It only lasts for about 5 minutes then stops and returns to normal. By the time I get my video camera, it stops. Of course the dealer cannot find any problems. Any one else encounter this? Since my warranty is up soon, and the dealer cannot replicate this problem, will it be covered after the warranty is expired?? Thanks and have a great long weekend!

It's hard to say whether it would be covered. They would have to diagnose the problem first of course which they couldn't do yet. It would be a good idea to get it in again for a check and make sure you document the problem occurances and service checks. Ask them to contact Infiniti for a solution as well so your problem and non solution is on record for a potential future warranty fix.

May depend on your dealer. I had this problem about 2 years after getting my car, only happened one time. I casually mentioned it to the service people as I brought my car in for an oil change - I fully expected the 'not reproduceable' tag when I picked it up, but honestly I had forgot about it because it only happened that one time.

A couple weeks later I got a call saying the part I needed for my car was in - I had no idea what they were talking about. Turns out they ordered a replacement display for me under warranty. I had it replaced and it has never occurred again. I was shocked they did this, but not inconsistent with the service I have received at Infiniti of Raleigh.
