Don't use a buffer (unless you're a pro) and you'll be fine. I've had my black 03 G35 for about 1.5 years now. The prior owner didn't appear to take much care in the finish of the car and choose to whipe the car down with dirty towels making fine scratches in the paint.
I use mostly Meguiar's products including their polish, wax, paint cleaner, heavy duty Scratch-X, clay bar, and Plastix (for the headlights). All I use is a $20 random orbital buffer I've had for about 6 years now. I get amazing results and I only wax twice a years and do a full paint cleaning once a year. A full paint cleaning includes clay bar on most of the panels followed by the clay bar, then the polish or Scratch-X depending on if there are fine scratches, and then finally the wax. I get the same kind of reflection of the paint as Russ as shown above.
I've considered getting a Porter Cable buffer, but I just can't justify the expense (about $300 after you buy the buffer and all the pads) for a street car that sees bugs, salt, gravel, sand, semi's throwing debris, etc. Plus, like you're concern, swirl marks are quite common on black paint if you use a buffer. You really have to be good and use the right pads/polish.

hey tx, few real questions
didnt you have your grill blacked out before?
and didnt you not have film on your tailights
and didnt you order a set of full smoke overlays from blue bat?
lol, I sound like a broken record. Cars looking good. get some pics for us from the show
btw, how does it ride with the lightweight combo?

1) Yes, the grill on our last cruise at high speeds got all sand blasted. So I pulled it off for now till I can redo it.
2) I did, but only half way installed on the lights. I could never get the film to work over the curved part and ruined two sets of Batmobiles covers.
3) Yes.
Rides good.! More pics when I get time to get them online. A bit too much to drink right now.

Sorry but you do not get the same type of reflection unless you use much better products and methods. www.autopia.org to learn more. Pics do not do my car justice. A lot of people were amazed on what I did to the car at the car show this past Wed. Because it was the only black car that looked so deep with no swirls, or scratches at all on the paint. All you are doing is covering yours up when I removed mine.

Plugs help with the idle and gas mileage mainly. The car runs smooth with them.
