Clicking noise from rear of car

I have a 2005 G35 6MT with 8700 km on it. Very recently with the warmer weather (window down), I notice a clicking noise coming from the rear of the car. It is reproducable from standstill to moving. Once it reaches higher speeds (40km/hr) it is not noticable. It varies from one click to 2-3 clicks in succession, seems to increase with harder accelerations.
At first, I thought it was related to the clutch. I thought everytime I depressed the clutch it would make one click but I was wrong....I can leave the car engaged in second gear (< 10km/hr).....once I step on the gas, the cars weigh shifts to the rear and I get 1 or more clicking noise. The harder I accelerate, the more the click. Once it gets going, there is no more noise.

I speculate it is the rear suspension (spring on compression? Bump stop?). The dealership will have a look next week. Will post the results.

Any help would be good.

maybe it's the sound from the limited slip rear differential? does it sound when you floor it and shift hard?

it's your axles. This is a common problem and I got mine replaced under warranty.

Does this occur on the 2004's as well? I have an '04 and I hear a clicking noise as well, but I was told it was clutch chatter and that it was normal

I had a similar clicking noise whenever I started to move the car (forward or reverse)....took it to the dealer, who performed a coupe TSB to tighten some rear axle bolts. The TSB was listed for 03 and maybe 04 coupes, but not 05's, and not sedans. Seems to have fixed the problem, though. I have not heard the clicks since then.

+1. Tighten the axle spindles.

I have the same thing, but I noticed it after I lowered the car and changed rotors and pads. Last night I took everything apart like 3 times because I couldnt figure out where it was coming from. Its freakin loud and annoying tho.

Just an update....took the car to the dealership today. They quickly identified it as being a TSB. The mechanic said they need to apply lubricate to the axle and spindle to get rid of the noise. It would take approximately 2 hours. Since it is not super serious, I will get it fixed at the next oil change.
Will let everyone know if this does it...

thanks

BTW, the TSB DOES apply to 2005's as well as '03 and '04 cars. (http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../ITB05-002.htm) I have 9100 miles FYI (mostly easy cruising)...so apparently it doesnt take long for this to occur.

LOL I just did a search for the axle clicking threads because mine started the click today. I needed to confirm that it was the same as everyone elses claim...and I'm hearing it EXACTLY like ITRS2K. Thank God for this website or I wouldn't have been able to anticipate this axle issue long before it occurred Getting axle #1 fixed when she goes in for the next oil change!

Is this what I get for running it hard lately? I'm just trying to hear my Z-tube (which incidentally doesnt really sound much different than the stock intake). I was just trying to keep carbon deposits from building up on my valve seats!

Does this "clicking" also occur on AT X's? I hear a clicking when I shift into reverse Seems like I can reporduce the sound at will. I will also mention it to the dealer at the next service (33750 mi)

i had the same thing and it wasnt any of those.

it turns out the brake pads have a metal plate infront of them and whenever you move they make a clicking noise against the brake pad pins.
