After driving the G35 for 3.5 years I feel qualified to say the 2006 bmw 330i is clearly a superior car in general. The value of the G is great however I feel the value in the G is only at the surface. The service on the car is expensive especially for the 30k service I had done a few months ago. The brake warranty is gone, now it would be $300 every year-1.5 year for brakes. The BMW holds its value well, has full maintenance included and in my opinion the true value of the BMW is in the character. After driving both back to back, there is something special about the BMW and at the end of the day to me it is worth the few extra bucks if you can swing it.

Definitely. The one thing I see on your BMW that I don't like is how you have to insert the fob and press the start button. On my '05 X I just have to sit down and turn the key thing and the car starts because it senses the key in my pocket. Same as when I walk up to the car and unlock it... the one thing I've heard about BMWs that you'd have to verify is that the door handles light up at night?

I cannot comment on the power difference since the car only has 130 miles on it and I have not gone over 4000rpm. However, one thing that stands out right away is the low-end torque on the 330i. It develops its max torque and holds it well at a lowly 2750rpm compared to the 4600rpm in the G35. This makes acceleration in the 330i quite swiftly without taking it into high revs, almost like a small V8. The 330i features a 6-speed automatic where as my G35 has 5 gears and the tiptronic is useful compared to my 03.5 G where it acts as a top gear limiter. I tried the sport setting while I was cruising at 55mph and it immediately took the car into a lower gear and held the gears in a sporty fassion. When cruising on the highway at 80, I was averaging about 30mpg, which is damn impressive. Plenty of power at highway speeds and the revs are lower then in the G.
