g35 sedan buying
Re: g35 sedan buying
Based on what others are experiencing, it depends on where you are located. Not many have received discounts, most have paid MSRP or higher.
Now that they have been voted Car of The Year, it could get harder to get discounts.
Good luck, make your best deal and keep us posted.

You should be able to get something of a discount on a sedan. Check around various posts here and on Edmund's Townhall. The coupe is the hot item right now, and not much dealing is taking place on it, but as a result, there seems to be a decent selection of sedans collecting dust on the dealer's lots.

Re: g35 sedan buying
When I bought the car, I told the dealer I am willing to write a check for this car today. I did all the research on Edmunds and Cars.com to figure out the dealer invoice. I pulled out all the info and offered $500.00 over invoice. The dealer seemed really taken back and went on and on about how they DO NOT discount this car because it is a "HOT" car and the recent MT car of the year yada yada..... He even pulled out recipts from other sales showing that people have been paying MSRP. I told him thanks for his time but I am not willing to pay MSRP. As my wife and I were getting out of our seats, he jumped up and "wait a minute, let me see what I can do". He took all my paperwork from the internet and went to the "Boss". He returned about 5 minutes later with an offer of $800.00 over invoice and we accepted. This all happened the week befor Christmas, I am not sure if that helped.

Re: g35 sedan buying
I actually bought a sedan last week here in Chicago. Called a few dealers we have like 6 handy around here. I told them straight out i knew all the car of the year stuff and simply asked how much will you knock off a sedan. He said 1500. i said i'll be rite there. He also offered me a coupe for msrp minus shipping which i think is $545. Nice guy straight to the point. Infiniti of Orland Park. btw it was 1500 off any car on the lot...
Re: g35 sedan buying
i guess it really depends on what you're getting. i got mine around 3 and a half months ago.. near the summer, this car was hard to get under MSRP. now, it's probably easier to walk into the door and say you want this or that and get a good deal too. all you people that waited it out are lucking out on this. of course, rest of us have been able to enjoy the car a little longer, so we paid the price for it. like i said, the options probably have a lot to do with it. i got mine with the body kit, which is kinda rare, so to get the body kit w/ the options i wanted in the color i wanted, it was kind of tough to haggle, especially when i wasn't paying totally with cash, had a trade in that i wanted a really good deal for, and a recent college grade and first time buyer. i ended up getting about $2000 over KBB value for my trade in (that's KBB's value on the retail market, not trade in), so if you count that, I didn't do that bad. if i waited until the end of the year, i probably could've gotten a little over invoice, but my trade in would've been worth less considering the redesign (toyota 4runner)... so in the end, it doesn't matter when i bought it.
for those of you who don't have all these other factors, going int there paying cash, get the best deal that you can.. but either way, you'll drive out of that lot a happier person.

Re: g35 sedan buying
I orderd mine a week before Xmas, got it early last week at $32300 in NJ, exactly the options and color I wanted (prem, sports & winter). I bet you can get big discount in these days, Infiniti site shows every dealer has 20+ inventory, I think the info is pretty accurate, my vin showed up in my dealer the same day I took delivery. cash or not does not really make any differences as long as they know you are a serious buyer.
Re: g35 sedan buying
I got my G35 Sedan (Premium Pkg., sport pkg., aero pkg) the day before Thanksgiving for $35,000 out the door (meaning tax, license, registration included) in Tustin, CA. I suggest you purchase around a time (ex: when I went on Thanksgiving, the lot was empty, try Superbowl day) when you know sales are gonna be very slow and near the end of month. Also, go to at least 3 dealers w/in your area. DO NOT just go off Edmunds.com or any other website for quotes cause TRUST me you can do much, much better. Take a buddy w/ you too (like playing chess, the guy around your shoulder can see all the moves you don't). The dealer and his manager will tell you all sorts of stories about how there's no way they can give you your price for such a Hot car, That's less than we paid for, blah, blah, blah. Don't buy in, take your time, and it'll pay off. They used it on me, and I ended up getting $1,300 less than the lowest they said possible on the first day of negotiations, plus I got the aero as thrown in. Just walk away and they'll call you back the next day or before you walk out the door. Tell them you're going to the next local dealership as well (use the name of the dealership like Tustin, Costa Mesa, etc. so they know that you are aware of their competitiors). It takes a lot of effort and strategy but it's worth the extra G or several hunderds you'll save. Don't just go to one dealer.
Re: g35 sedan buying
You can definitely get big discounts on the Sedan. Don't listen to the dealers. Goto Edmunds townhall and read the 'What did you pay' in the G35 section:
http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/Web...2@.ef0b873/384!make=Infiniti&model=G35&ed_makeindex=.ef0b873
Read EVERY one of the posts in the archive. You will see that people have been getting discounts since the fall, some only a few hundered dollars above invoice.
After researching, I felt that around $250 over invoice was a good price, seeing that others had gotten that. I had a difficult time finding the invoice.
My C.Blue 2003.5 had a only a roof and trunk mat as options.
MSRP of $31,265
Estimated invoice:$28,721
I paid $29000.
My advice is:
Research the price, figure out the invoice of the exact car you want. Use the infiniti website to find the car. Make your mind up before you go to purchase the car. Make a cheat sheet if needed.
Go into the dealer with this mentality:
"I am going to walk, I will not buy the car tonight"
Don't be even slightly swayed by emotion.
As the customer, you are in COMPLETE control! The dealer has none! You hold all the cards.
Have another car in your mind when you walk into the dealer.
Make it clear that you could purchase either, depending on the deal.
Pretend that you really don't care too much about the car you target.
Make it clear you are ready to buy the car for your pre-decided price.
They will hammer you, but don't budge from the price.
Use the excuse:
"If I can't do my price, I need to rethink this purchase and check out my alternative car."
"I don't want to waste your time, I think I should go look at the other car".
They know if you leave, they will probably lose you. This is what you want them to think. Faced with selling a car for no profit or not selling a car, they will always sell (assuming they have a bunch of cars, my dealer had over 40).
It helps to goto the biggest dealer around.
As one of the other posters said, I was getting in my car to leave, I had resigned to not buying the car. He came out just before I left and did the deal at my price.
Remember, be confident, don't budge on your price, you are in control!
