Re: G35 - Just Another Nissan

Hi guys,

I have been browsing the forum for a little while and like the atmosphere of this forum very much. I see that G owners demand nothing less than of highest quality from Infinity. Which is a good thing, keeping this company on track. I also own a 98' E320. Unlike G owners, Mercedes owners in the Mercedes forum, on the other hand, sigh, sigh, sigh, demad nothing more than what the poor Mercedes quality has to offer, very sad, or I should say pathetic. Even though my G's doors rattle a bit and my driver seat clicks, it is as a solid car as my E class and I can see that Infinity stands behind its products. For my E class, window regulators had been relaced numerous times, six times to be exact, two rear windows refuse to go all the way down now, seats squeak like crazy, turn signals are gone now and will be fixed soon, and the list goes on. Further, a lot of new Mercedes have premature harmonic balancer failure as well, more than thousands in number, so Mercedes owners have to pick up the repair bill of close to $3000 themselves. What did Mercedes do. Nothing in most cases, not to mention dealing with Mercedes dealerships in the Orange County area are a hassle to go through. Very stressful and very disappointing. You can not believe this is the attitude and service Mercedes trains thier people to provide for the Mercedes owners and most owners just put up with it. Most of Mercedes owners would just say to themselves " there is no perfect car and which car never has a problem." I just hope one day Mercedes owner would snap out of thier self denying state.

chinee - great response on your TL ownership experiences - my wife had a 2002 as well, and after the tranny went south, we felt the same way - every squeek, lurch, etc we were wondering "what now?? is it going again???" She ended up trading it in on a QX-4. Luckily, Acura resale values aren't too bad, so we didn't take too big a financial bath.

Aux: if you can't get any satisfaction from your dealer(s) or state lemon laws, it may be time to look for another brand

Hey Bama... not sure what you owned before you drove your G, but making the transition from a FWD to RWD vehicle was a GREAT experience. Although I did have to eat some of the depreciation on the TL, I'm glad to have discovered the joys of RWD, not to mention what torque really feels like. I'm not a racer, but enough of an enthusiast for me to appreciate RWD.

Sometimes I miss the TL's refinement... but all I have to do is squeeze a little gas and the adrenaline kills those memories.

Now... my new challenge is to budget for a Z in 2005.
