What features do you wish the G sedan had?
Re: What features do you wish the G sedan had?
aight, I'll give this a go. However, my list would not result in a substantial cost increase and could have been done right to begin with.
1) Headlight control order should be auto-off-parking-on NOT off-auto-parking-on. The way it is now, if I have the light fully on and want them off the lights go off at the parking setting and back on in the auto setting and back off again which probably reduces the life of the bulbs. I now shut the engine off first then swith the lights to off (auto doesn't turn them on with the engine off).
2) Seat controls - talk about idiotic design, place hard plastic and metal right where we sit, yeah, that's the ticket - NOT! It would have been so simple to put the seat controls elsewhere.
3) Dead pedal - Is this thing in the right position for anyone? Make it adjustable.
4) Oil dipstick - I can't get a consistent reading off this plumbers snake of a dipstick. Am I reeming out my plumbing or checking the oil? :-P
5) sunglasses holder way too small for average sunglasses
6) No power to windows and sun roof unless ignition is in the "on" position. If I can run the radio with ignition in "accessory" position why not allow the windows and sunroff to operate as well? It's a bit annoying to have to get into the car, put the ignition in the "on" position lighting up the dash and initializing all the other electronics just to close the sunroof and windows (I know, I can close the windows using the key in the door keyhole, but not the sunroof).
That's it. I don't see anything here that would increase the cost of the car if it had been designed correctly to begin with. Of course this is all IMO :-)
Love my G :-)))

Re: What features do you wish the G sedan had?
Does anyone know if there's a way install a dead pedal like the one from the coupe?

Re: What features do you wish the G sedan had?
04NismoV35,
It's pretty easy to remove the stock dead pedal and install the new one. They're all interchangable. All it is takes a medium size flat blade screwdriver and a couple of minutes.
The part number for the one I used is #16576-CD000. It's under $20.00 from from Jayson at parts@nissianwholesaleparts.com - 800.876.7496

Re: What features do you wish the G sedan had?
Dead Pedal: If you have an A/T, go to a dealership and sit in a 6MT car, and feel the dead pedal. The manual's have a different one, a little narrower, but at a more comfortable angle. I had the 6MT dead pedal installed in my sedan, and it's much better.
Sunroof/Windows: Once you initially shut the car off, you still have power to the sunroof and windows for about a minute. I often shut off the car, then close the sunroof/windows, then get out.

Re: What features do you wish the G sedan had?
I highly agree with the whole headlight switching on/off thing, the position on the stalk of the AUTO funciton sucks!, i hate it when the HID flicks on and off real quick when i go to turn on my parking lights, stupidest thing ever.
1.) bigger cup holders - so they can hold more than a tall coffee or a soda can
2.) rear window sunshades would have been nice - motorized even better
3.) motorized, steering wheel w/ telescope
4.) auto entry position for MT cars
5.) brembos for sedan
6.) auto tilt mirrors when in reverse
you mean your guys cars didnt' come with the blinking mirrors???? haha, just kidding, putting my trafficators on this weekend - basically, alot of you guys are askin for options that are available, just in japan
as far as the 280 vs 260 horsepower thing, i can almost guarantee there is zero difference between the motors, outside of the intake and exhaust - you could probably put them both on the dyno from the factory and they'll make very close figures

Thanks DaveO, good to know. Will the drilled aluminum fit?
hksjza70 I agree with every one of the those, especially the tilt mirror to save rims.

Re: What features do you wish the G sedan had?
I agree with the auto headlights. I'm sure this feature will kill the life of the bulbs. The sequence should be reversed as stated in a previous post. I would not consider it a new feature, rather a design flaw that should be fixed.

hksjza70 -
| 2.) rear window sunshades would have been nice - motorized
| even better
During a recent service visit I was given an I35 loaner (nice car, but a high "granny" factor IMO) that had a motorized sunshade. I saw a button on the console and had no idea what it was...so I pushed it of course
I thought it was the silliest thing I ever saw. I honestly didn't know what that net was that unfolded in front of the rear window. A baby sun shield? A headlight dimmer for night driving? I arrived at the conclusion it was a sunshade, but there's now way I would want that clunky thing on any car I owned.
That's the great thing about buying cars - you can have an option no one else wants but you do! It only gets to be a problem when the option is part of a package and you really want the package but you really don't want that option
Worse yet when you think the package is a bit overpriced..

Re: What features do you wish the G sedan had?
My wish list includes:
- doors that automatically lock when the car gets to 15 mpg
- aluminum pedals (for the 6MT)
- wider tires (maybe the 18" wheel option from the coupe for cars with the sport suspension)
- Brembo brake options (for cars with the sport suspension)
- contrasting gauge faces (they blend too easily with the rest of the instrument pod) and it's almost impossible to read them with bright sun shining on them
- or a light sensor placed on the dash that can detect the outside lighting conditions and keep the gauges at "full bright" when the lights come on automatically at dusk or dawn
- or move the illumination adjustment somewhere easier to reach
- power lumbar control in both front seats
- a better stereo system (I hate Bose -- way overrated!)
- an electrically operated fuel door release
- fog/driving lights in a better location (lower in the bumper)
- all window buttons on the driver's door labeled "auto" instead of just the driver's window (and remove the "all auto" silkscreen from the housing)
- memory for the outside mirrors
- keyfobs that are individually labeled for each driver and recall their own memory settings for driver's seat and mirrors
- rear A/C control and vents for 6MT cars
- rear window sunshade (can be manually-operated)
- dual exhaust like the coupe
- rain-sensing wipers
- some storage space for CD jewel cases (i.e. slots)
- turn signal indicators integrated into the outside mirrors or on the front fenders for better visibility with other drivers

Re: What features do you wish the G sedan had?
There sort of is a LATCH for the middle back seat. There's definately a top tether for the middle. You can use the left seat's right latch and the right seat's left latch to anchor a seat in the middle - which is what I'm actually doing. I'd have to double-check, but the bars may even be wide enough to accomodate two hooks.
