Re: My poor G....

bummer to hear about that. A couple of questions. inevitably we all might be in this situation. I just want to know how the car faired. How do you feel? Dd the car take up most of the force? Any airbags deploy? Is your car fixable?

Re: My poor G....

Well I guess you guys are right as long as no one is hurt...

shodog

I think the car did ok... when I got hit my car didn't move on inch upon impact... don't know if thats good or bad. Most of the damage was on the rear bumper pretty and the rear right fender... pretty much needs to be replaced. Estimated cost for repair was 6000 including parts and labor.

As for me... the air bag did not deploy and I really didn't feel too much of the hit... just a slight jerk. Seriously I fairly happy on how the G took the hit... If I can figure out how to post a picture i'll show you guys where the damage is...

Re: My poor G....

That's exactly the kind of accident that will suck in this car, unfortunately. You can see the bumper/rear crumpled up, and as you said you didn't feel anything... had it NOT crumpled, you might have some medical problems down the road, but since it did, you're okay. This is primarily why we're a safety "best pick", but in the same breath we're "poor" on cost of repairs-- built to dissipate energy on impact. Now, however, there's that $6k to worry about... Good luck, and sorry to hear about your car...

Well, thats what insurance is for. The other driver's coverage should pay for everything.

Exactly... I just always worry whenever I'm around beaters. Did you know the majority of driver's out there do NOT have insurance? The problem with that is that if you sue someone who doesn't have a lot and can't pay to fix your car, they just file bankruptcy and you're left with the bill. I don't trust anyone anymore... sad, huh?

Re: My poor G....

Glad you're okay. They should be able to fix just fine, get a real good body shop. Don't forget to make a claim for lost value for the car- this does lessen the value of the car on tradein resale.

Re: My poor G....

I was wondering about that as well. Whether I can get compensated for the loss of value of my car. Do I just mention this to the insurance company? I know only some states compensate this, does california do this?

Re: My poor G....

Sorry to hear...that picture hurts just looking at it. If you need a new rear tail lamp, ask the body shop if they can give you the old one since they just throw them away anyways. Take the tail light apart and see what you can do with it. The insides are exactly like the Japanese tails except that we just have a RED clear cover.

In terms of insurance, you'll have to ask your company and whether or not it's in your contract. Usually, they'll just pay for the damages.

There's also no better time than this to get the body shop to spray the bottom black peices to body colour for you. GL man.

It's still a G thang!!

Re: My poor G....

Rumble...

Well at least the body shop will use all infiniti/nissan parts to repair my car... replacing the rear fender, the bumper and the tail lights etc... Interesting... maybe i'll ask em if I can keep the old tail light for fun =).

One thing I'm getting out of this is there was a minor scratch on my rear fender and my rim before the accident.... they will replace both so there is a bright side....LOL. Hopefully the money I'm getting for the inherent diminish value of my car... will help contribute to the "Add a Navi Into My Car Fund". I'm bummed as hell but i'm trying to work with the half filled glass atm.... as they say.... when life hands you a lemon, make lemonade.... >.<

thanks for the sympathies and advice... its greatly appreciated.

Re: My poor G....

Darkass, you need to make a claim on the other person's insurance for diminished value, not yours. some states don't allow this.
