Isn't the GT real slow? They shouldn't make Mustangs in 6 cylinder IMO.

Slow? 6 cylinder? No, the '00 GT I had was a 4.6 V8, 260 HP. Oops, this sure got off topic!

I've nicknamed my '05 the rattle rocket. All attempts at fixing the problems have failed. I'm about to push the bitch off a bridge and let the insurance pick up the tab.
Bought it brand new 8 months ago and its been in the shop 9 times for issues:

Both front compression rods replaced. (2 visits).
Air leak in back of car due to faulty seal in passenger rear door (4 visits to get it finally resolved).
Window regulators replaced/tightened or adjusted in all 4 doors yet windows still creak, sqeak (1 visits).
Door panels have been paddened, yet they still rattle (2 visits).
I had the inner metal panels on the front doors covered in dynamat and unfortunately that didn't help, it just made matters worse. Even more rattles, and sqeaks manifested in the front doors.
I'm not really happy with my G.

I hear ya Dr. I spent about 4 hours outside today workng on my doors and I five different people made the same comment to me after asking what I was doing..."A car likethat isn't spposed to rattle"

Hell the FedEx guy felt compelled to stop and ask me what was going on... I don't even know this guy or the other folks but they all made that same comment.

I didn't even bait them; I simply explained I was trying to quell some rattles.

I love this car but your nickame for it fits it perfectly... I do not think I would buy it again nor would I recommend it to a friend or family member at this point.

Yeah, right, people just walk up to you and ask, FedEx guy just wandered over for no reason, no package? I have just had a couple of slight, occaisional rattles in my '05. plastic against Plastic will have rattles sometimes, every car has rattles, good luck in your search for a rattle free car, maybe you'll find one, NOT!

Firstly,I didn't say my 89 vert didn't rattle just not quite as bad as my POS $40,000 CDN G35.At least my trunk opens on my sub $10,000 vert but that's another issue.

You implied that though. I had a 2000 GT vert, and had constant rattles, roof, under dash, windows, top delaminating, had to be replaced 3 times, maybe I should go on, but this G35 is far superior to my $29k GT (sticker)! This car is far from a POS!

They were probably looking to score some crank.

The more interior pieces that the manufacture needs to put together, the higher chance for those pieces to rattle. So far, the rattles in my G is minimal and I will not complaint about it. And I will still buy another G35 instead of a Mustang.

This rattle is from the Junk crome strip around the window frames - if you remove these stripes the rattles goes away. Put some teflon tape over the window frame and re-apply the crome strips and this will resolve the issue. Keep in mind that these strips bend easily...

This is true - the Interior of the G is one of the most poorly assembled I've seen; at least mine is, expecially against the TL, IS and A4 - junk plastic everywhere and way too many assembly pieces.

Nevertheless, it looks like from the snapshots of the '07 G35 that this has been addressed big time. The assembly pieces for the dash went from over 25 to about 6 and the materialls are much improved over the GM spec components that are used now. It looks like a world-class interior, but I'll wait and see until I see it in person.

2005 G35x

1. High-pitched buzzing where the window meets the door on the drivers side

2. Rattle in the passenger door

3. Rattle in the dashboard

4. Phantom rattle in the back somewhere

The rattles do not occur all the time, they ebb and flow like the tide. I figured out that when I am driving the car and it is making a "throaty" sound, it causes much of the rattles (must be the low frequency). I've had the car looked at 4 times and the rattles still occur. However, I love my car and have learned to live with it......put the music up, open the windows, etc. It's annoying, but it doesn't make the car undriveable.

Now about those brake squeals....
