Adding Infiniti Navigation
Adding Infiniti Navigation
Has anyone added the stock infiniti navigation setup to their non navigation g35? Ive seen a few setups on ebay and that is the only thing I am missing on my car. Now my question is first has anyone done it...if so does it recognize the trip computer features such as current mpg, avarage speed...ect. Ive also noticed that these all say it wont work with sport suspension...how do I know if I have that? Ive got a 6mt...do they all come with the sport suspension? any help is appreciated.

you technically could do it, but from what i understand it's more than just the 2K monitor and dvd unit. the gps, whatever handles the speed, etc, etc. this is just from what i've heard, i don't know anyone that's tried, nor have i done all the research.
Go to carparts.com. Order the system there (console and dvd). The real problem is the wiring harness. Which is said to be different between the nax and non-nav G's. There's a thread here where a guy did install it. Maybe buy the console (for giggles, I got quoted $600 for the entire center console - radio, hvac controls and monitor), remove the screen, install a touch screen in its place and install a carputer.

I have to agree with everyone else on here. Aftermarket NAV's are the way to go. They're less expensive and you have the option of getting either an integrated or portable option. I spend time on GPSPassion dot com, and am amazed at how far the portable Nav options have come. For my money, I want a smaller unit that I can take with me on vacations and transfer into my wifes car as needed. The integrated options are sleeker, but they're not worth it (IMO) unless you plan on keeping your car for 5 years or more.
Everyone one that seems to be complaining, do you guys have an 06? The 06 navi is much different than the 03-05 navi. I have a 06 with navi and it's not that slow at all for me.
You can go aftermarket, but I would take a 06 factory navi over an aftermarket because of the pop up feature. However, like everyone else said, if you didn't get it from the facotry it's nearly impossible to install a factory unit.

Go aftermarket...Reason is your car is not wired for Nav...Most cars with Nav. has a different wire harness then the non-nav cars. You would need to buy a wire harness, gps antenae, new console for the nav screen, new buttons controls, nav screen, nav dvd unit, and then you would need to get it installed because you will need to take out everything in the car to wire up the nav system. The GPS ant. is on the rear desk of the car...Also, it's intergrated into the stereo so you can hear the voice guidance. Trust me even the dealership will tell you that it's not worth it. I used to work for a dealership and a customer ask if he can add a Nav to his car afterwards. They straight up told him "No" because it too much work. Just go to the dealership and just ask how much for the screen and unit. It's over 4K that's not including anything else i mentioned. My 2 cents
I'm not sure...Because i have an 06 and i'm not sure what the older ones look like. I know that on the Acuras it's a whole new controls...But i it be different on the G...
