From my experience, you may have a leak somewhere, the only vehicle I've kept recently to go over 54k, needed a recharge around 50k, but it had a leak that needed repair, a broken high pressure line. Of course, that was back when they still used freon, is you car still in the warranty?

My 03 with 38K miles is downright frigid. I'm on vacation in FL right now and I have to keep the setting at 78-80 degrees to keep from freezing. This is with a black car too. The car also spends lots of time in Atlanta and Kansas City, both of which typically see 90+ degree humid summers. The A/C has never had problems.

now this blows, well not really....that is the problem. My AC was never that cold, to start with and I took it in and they said it was normal. Sure at night when the suns down and it's cool outside the AC gets cold, but in the daytime it never seems to get cold enough.

did you try lowering the AC temperature to 60? I know it's stupid of me to ask, but what temp do you set it at?

Mine is coldddd...but I normally keep it at 72. Sometimes I have to turn it up to 74 to keep from freezing - seems my A/C is much colder than my wife's Touraeg when set at the the same temperature. I have to set hers to 65-68 to get the same effect as mine at 72.

You don't need a recharge. I had the same problem with my car blowing mildly cold air. The only time I could get it to blow real cold was at 60 degrees, but if I bumped it up to 61 degrees it would blow much warmer (much warmer than a one degree difference). The dealer told me that some of the cars have a glitch with their climate control. They seemed to be fully aware of this problem and fixed for me with no issues. Go back and talk to somebody else, or go to a different dealer.

why would a recharge be needed on a system unless it was opened up or had a leak?

As previously mentioned take it to a dealer and stand your ground.

Unhappy Uh-oh

Uh oh....

My air hasn't been very cold at all. I thought the system was just not powerful. Now, I live in las vegas, it has been 110-114 on the days when I notice that the AC just wont get cold enough to be comfortable. . I figured it wasn't capable of cooling at those temps to room temp inside the car. It doesn't ever get cold, at best its ok but only because you can feel the air blowing.

Does anyone else live where it gets this hot...does your ac get cold enough to turn down the blower??? Mine sure doesn't.
