Seat controls GONE & Custom Interior **PICS**
The sadistic seat controls are finally gone from the seat bolsters…..
This project started out with that as the only thing in mind,
& solve my sore leg problem.
Well, the project grew a little…..
Since the seats were already going to be apart to rebuild the bolster;
I decided to do a little additional upholstery work
And then since we were that far, ummmm might as well do the door panels as well .
After the interior was stripped out of the car…..
The first task was to figure where to relocate the controls.
I ended up mounting them on the center console for a few reasons…
1. they fit there
2. Easy access for wiring to the seats, under the carpet
3. location was similar to the original
PIC 1 The sadistic metal brackets removed from the bolsters..
PIC 2 One of the seat controls mounted on the console. (bottom view)
I had to fabricate an enclosure for the control, since the switch side was now exposed.
Arrow points to fabricated aluminum strip
PIC 3 This was the first test strip, to get the feel for the aluminum.
It’s 18ga & has paper backing.
The backing was great for doing layout & measuring.
PIC 4 Seat control finished on console.
I used black out vinyl tape to trim the aluminum.

The upholstery
The upholstery shop….
Pete & Vito at Tack Auto and Marine Upholstery in Mississauga (GTA),
did a fabulous job with the seats. http://www.tackupholstery.com/
The first thing was picking out the pseudo suede (Alcantara) material.
We eventually found what I liked from a shop in Cali.
They did a custom perforation job on the material to match the OEM perf.
After that Pete set to work dismantling the seats & door panels……
PIC 5 Seat covers taken apart and the Alcantara cut & ready to assemble
PIC 6 The naaakid seats & a couple of covers sewn & ready
PIC 7, 8 & 9 Sitting in the showroom waiting for the ride home
