if you are talking about the double sided foam tape, good luck. Gonna need a lot of bug and tar remover, some wax, some terry towels and a blow dryer. The older it is, the harder it is to get off.
goof off does ok removing stuff like that. Usually you have to let it sit on the adhesive for a bit before it will start coming off easily.
Whatever method you use it may be tedious though.

Those tips kind of sucked man. To really advise you I would need to know what and where it is stuck and what it is holding on. But for most applications what yout want to do is:
Heat the tape up before you ever try to pull on it even a little bit.
Get it real hot, like if it had been sitting in the sun for a half an hour then pull it off. you may need a little bit of goo gone for some residue but this method will work.
The key is that you don't try tugging on it ever before heating it up because you don't want to stress the adhesive on particular areas you want it even when you heat it just like when it got put on.
I use this tape a lot and in the summer when it gets around or over 100 degrees if it is in an area exposed to the sun it comes off by itself smooth as a babies bottom.
