Metallic Tint

I've done some searching on the forum to help me decide if I should go with metallic or non metallic (ceramic) tint on my non NAV 6 MT sedan. My main concern is radio reception. After reading numerous posts, I came to the conclusion that there is no real facts indicating that metallic tint will reduce radio reception. It seems to be a hit and miss where one post will say there is no effect on radio reception while another post will say yes it did reduced their radio reception. Obviously the safest tint for cars equipped with embedded antenna in the windshield is non metallic type. The cost difference between non metallic and metallic tint is about $50. Obviously if I don't have to spend the extra $50, I'll take that route.
I would like to hear from forum members with metallic and non metallic and thier experience on tinting on their vehicle.
I plan to have 30 to 35 percent tint on all glass.

Thanks.

I have metallic tint on my back 3 windows of my G35 sedan. The front two are not tinted. I have noticed some radio reception interference only on AM radio. Nothing major, but the AM stations have a little more static with the tint applied than without the tint. I have not noticed a difference in FM reception.

If radio means a lot to you, I would not take the chance. Spend the extra $50. Remember, if you go w/ metallic tint and the reception sucks, you will be very unhappy and probably take off the metallic tint and apply the ceramic tint. That will cost you much more than $50! Good luck!

Don't think it will effect navi at all since the navi antena is in the dash. I have metallic tint on my G35 (all 5 windows) and my navi is fine along with my FM, never tested AM. I have Johnson sholiutte(sp, for sure!) tint on mine, the website said it was fine for navi and radio, then a month later they took that off their website, but like i said before, no problems.

I have 20% metailc and don't have any radio problems. My GPS antenna is on my dash so I'm not sure about the reception problems with that.

I have metallic and it doesn't affect my Nav. I don't use my radio because i have XM so I can't say about the reception...But the metallic has a nice color that fits my DG color...

Since you're in SanDiego, if you're looking for a good tint shop, i'd recommend Mr.Tint in Escondido. They did a great job on my sedan and a couple of my friends coupes. If you want to see my tint in person just let me know.

20% full metallic all the way around...might have slight AM reception issue from time to time, but if its the tint causing the problem I could not say and with a Blk/blk auto in SoCal it would be well worth the trade off.

got a metallic tint on mine and haven't really noticed a difference in radio reception. my gps antenna is also located on the dash, so metallic tint isn't really an issue with that.

very nice, what percent is it?

I am thinking 5% on all my windows except my fronts, 20% on my front windows . . .you think that would look good?
