Newbie here, just picked up a new '06 6MT last night
What a great car so far (its been less than a day). I had been looking at used Audi A4s and G35s but the A4 didn't have the power I wanted and I don't need AWD. What I found was that for the price of used G35s I was able to get a new base model 6MT.
What is everyone's opinion on extended warranties (factory only)? I have good mechanical skills and a nice garage so I can do the labor myself, but have heard that part costs are high.

Congrats - welcome to the team! I wouldn't bother with the extended warranty. The reliability of Nissan/Infiniti is a significant reason many of us chose this car over the Audis and BMWs of the world. Plus, you've got the new car warranty built in - so save yourself the $$ and invest in some mods instead

Congrats! My base 6mt is almost a year old. I didn't go for the extended warranty either. I don't believe those things are worth it in the long run if you buy a quality product. Something major or a lot of little things would have to go wrong to make it worth the price. However, after hearing a lot of stories about mt trannie issues, I'm a little nervous. I'm sure most 6mt go many miles with no problems and you only hear about the few with issues.
